It is all but a forgone conclusion that Labour will form our next government.
How are you expecting your life to change as a result?
what are you most looking forward to or dreading?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I wish people wouldn't say it is a foregone conclusion! I am worried people just won't bother to vote at all if they keep reading that.

Nothing much will change for a while, but hopefully in a few years the UK won't be the basket case it is at the moment.

PandoraSox · 24/06/2024 18:09

I am looking forward to never hearing the phrase "Stop the Boats" ever again.

I am looking forward to the UK remaining in the ECHR

I am dreading the 5 years of mud slinging from the right wing press that will ensue from 10.01 pm July 4th.

So basically the Tories are the only party that can govern the UK competently ?
They’ve just not had long enough, that it ?
I thought their plans were scrutinised and showed a financial black hole bigger than Labours ?
Fwiw I think you need not worry. When push comes to shove folk will vote for them. As they always do.
Genuine fear for public order if this happens.
So much public anger amongst people under 50 but hardly any youngsters will bother voting which is always advantageous for them. Obvs loads of horrendous crowing. Country declines further as Brexit hits. Farage will somehow become PM.

I don’t think we’ve heard the last of ‘stop the boats’ Sir Keir has, as far as I’m aware stated that he intends to put measures in place to stop the small boat crossings.

I am pretty sure he won't be standing on lecterns emblazoned with the phrase and having it as his lead policy.

Labour is going to win. The only question is by how much. Even the Tories know that.

boys3 · 24/06/2024 19:20

not very much. I’ll be voting Labour but given the scale of the challenges faced I think Labour will be limited in what they can do in the short term. And I fully expect if the majority is as expected they will take some hard and potentially unpopular decisions.

the repair job is in my view going to take two full parliamentary terms before we see real end embedded progress. so Labour will need to avoid becoming obsessed by the 2029 GE but keep still keep their eye fixed on at minimum two full terms.

and if things are changing for the better - frankly they can’t get any worse - third and fourth terms to bring about real societal improvement.

SlothOnARope · 26/06/2024 15:09

Expecting:

To be further unable to pay my tax bill
The rental crisis not to be addressed
Drug-related crime and AS behaviour in my area to continue creating MH issues for my entire family
My young adult DC to find a job overseas (hope not expect)
Further lies, closures of vital public services and corruption in my constituency.

CassieMaddox · 26/06/2024 18:18

I'm looking forward to not having to listen to everything getting branded as "woke"
GB news hopefully going kaput due to its epic failure to influence voters
I'm looking forward to a return of really dull politics as opposed to law breaking/lying.

I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing normal politicians accents instead of rarified Eton posh nobs everywhere.

Not having to read endless "stop the boats" and "at least the Conservatives/Reform know what a woman is" on here all the time.

Those are the immediate things.

TuesdayWhistler · 26/06/2024 18:23

Everyone will be worse off one way or another.

People won't admit to things for fear of being labelled words ending in 'ist'

In 4/5 years time there will be a lot of
"Told you so"

NotTooOldPaul · 26/06/2024 18:26

I'm expecting Labour to win a lot of seats but I hope that SNP do even better.

Byronada · 26/06/2024 18:46

For it to be the same shitshow but to be financially worse off, certainly in the short term. I think there are many people who are deluded and things are magically going to change. If we want improvement we'll have to be prepared to pay for it.

EasternStandard · 26/06/2024 18:50

Not expecting much improvement. The IFS predictions are likely closer to reality on tax rises and spending cuts.

Not expecting Labour to deal with issues facing other countries such as France etc so we’ll see increased anger over that

Weetabbix · 26/06/2024 18:51

This.

It is NOT a foregone conclusion.

You still need to vote.

No he probably won’t as his plan isn’t viable but unless information is suppressed it will be in the media

RoseyLentil · 26/06/2024 18:54

To make policy decisions based upon robust evidence and stick to them.

Meadowtrees · 26/06/2024 18:55

Possibly losing my job
Uni fees to increase hugely for dcs
Increased taxes.
women’s rights obliterated
So personally I expect to be completely screwed + my dcs.

the nation - to be very disappointed with unpredictable results. It’s frightening.

foghead · 26/06/2024 19:01

I have no love for labour but I really doubt things are going to improve under labour.
We're on a downwards trajectory and our politicians are not capable. None of them.

foghead · 26/06/2024 19:02

I meant I have no love for conservatives. None for labour either.

Cantthinkofusername39 · 26/06/2024 19:40

Always been a labour voter but now I've no confidence in them personally I think they are Tories under a different name unless Farage gets in we are fucked!!

EasternStandard · 26/06/2024 19:45

RoseyLentil · 26/06/2024 18:54

Not sure if you mean this but they’re already struggling on both with the IFS commenting on their manifesto and a fair few changes to policies rather than sticking to them
