Acc to Qu Time special tonight.
So anyone still saying I'm not voting Labour because they 'don't know what a woman is'. It seems they have remembered!
So don't vote for them if you have other reasons but can we put this tired old line to bed now?

Personally I believe if people only ever vote tactically they will never get what they want and the two party system continues with nothing to distinguish them.
It also shows that people do not care about things, for example:

  • The greens get about 10% of the vote so the climate emergency isn't many peoples priority when it comes to voting so is it really an emergency?
  • in 2019 only the lib dems said they'd reverse Brexit but only 10% voted for them, so in reality Brexit isn't the most important issue for most people despite what they may say.
Lib Dems and greens will get the same this time around. I've abandoned the main two as not representing me; I vote for what I believe in since Labour left blood on my hands with their dodgy dossier and illegal war. Vote for what is right for you not war mongers.

Vote Tory then if it makes you feel better. Obviously if you ‘believe’ in them and their policies, their record etc. Fwiw the Tories have been quite happy to take us into various wars starting with Thatcher. As an ex lefty what’s your opinion on the Tory record at Orgreave ? Or their disgraceful behaviour towards Liverpool fans at Hillsborough ?
Lefty my arse.

I'm not voting Tory. You seem very sensitive to me saying I wouldn't vote for the dodgy dossier war mongers Labour Party. I did at the time and have blood on my hands. I was fooled once, I won't be fooled again. The point is I have scruples that won't see me vote for a party that lied to engage in illegal wars. They should have been disbanded at the time... not being voted in again. It's unbelievable how far this country has sunk.

Thanks for saying this 🙄

You're welcome.

It is so bloody tiresome that on a thread about Sir Keir and his new found realisation (after Tony told him) that women have vaginas, that crazed pro-Labour posters have to clamour in telling us how shit the Tories are. We fucking KNOW!
Many of us are Left wing voters who care about the rights of women and girls and we are completely disenfranchised by the misogynist crapheap that is the current Labour party.

Yep. And by caring about women's rights that equates to hating trans people or something. It's so tiresome.

Billyandharry · 21/06/2024 17:11

I wouldn't call myself 'a crazed pro labour voter' - more middle aged mum of 2 who wants the overall least shit option for me and my kids.

Thankfully Tony Blair was around to decipher the words and translate them into man speak for him.

This!

Yes, that's becoming very wearing also.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 21/06/2024 17:24

What's Tony Blair's position? Is he the one who started this mess?

We all fecking care about women’s rights. I certainly don’t want trans women in female sports or single sex safe spaces etc.
But when you have other supposedly left wing women happily declaring they’ll vote for this set of shysters (Tories) on the basis of a few mercenary comments it’s also pretty demoralising.

But WHY isn't Labour a pro women party?

No one can answer this question.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 21/06/2024 17:32

Interesting position from the poster who comes out with shite like this -

Essentially unless he banishes all trans folk to Siberia you won’t be happy with Starmer. Some of the name calling is f*g childish. And I know you aren’t transphobic but not all transfolk are fetishists or trying to rape women.

It's also tiresome when any criticism towards Labour then you must be a Tory supporter.

Well it’s true that not all trans people are rapists or fetishist isn’t it ?
Much like not all men are bastards.
I think because you don’t criticise the Tories at all seemingly and bandy about the tiresome trope that ‘only Tories know what a woman is’ (which is frankly quite disrespectful to people including women who have been badly treated by them) that people are a bit bewildered by some GC women.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 21/06/2024 18:22

Which would be a valid argument if anyone, anyone at all, has said that ALL trans people (I'm sure by this you mean transwomen) are rapists and fetishists. Which I'm confident hasn't been uttered by anyone. NAMALT too. Not all men are rapists but all rapists are men btw.

Of course I criticise the Tories. I can't handle any more of the shit they have caused and are no friend to women, despite yes, claiming to know what a woman is. The fact that even has to be stated is a slight on Labour, it's not a score point for the Tories.

But as soon as people like yourself start realising that women's rights to single sex provisions, spaces and sports is an important issue (and not a 'trans issue') to A LOT of women and denounce Labour for their appalling stance on this, you might get more on board.

ActivePeony · 21/06/2024 19:51

Certainly not transmen anyway.

You misunderstand. I think single sex provisions etc are important. Like you.
Would I vote for the Conservatives because they make a few GC lite comments ? Nope. Some of their other views are abysmal.
I don’t think Starmer is anti women/pro trans so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Like people have given the Tories time after time.

croydon15 · 21/06/2024 21:41

The man doesn't know what a woman is l wanted to ask him the question. Did anyone noticed he never answered any questions put to him, he just waffled on and Fiona Bruce had to repeat
the question time and time again

Fluffypuppy1 · 21/06/2024 21:57

RoseAndGeranium · 20/06/2024 22:55

Agree. He’s a snot sea cucumber: all slime and evasion.

I agree. I watched last night and called him Slimy Starmer. He couldn’t even answer the initial yes or no question even when Fiona Bruce repeatedly asked him too.

paolo2145 · 22/06/2024 02:02

JK Rowling has just printed article in TIMES (Tory supporting newspaper) on why she cannot vote Labour.

While i agree with some of her points that are well made, bit strange she chose a Tory newspaper to publish article.

However, whilst i share some of her concerns I do believe certainly for me, I have to look at bigger picture. On 5 July 2024 either Labour or the Tories (possibly in pact with Reform) will be running country for next 5 years.

To me right now that is far greater evil and they would literally have the UK in ruins in 5 yrs with their corruption, sleaze, politics of hate & division, NHS & public services reduced to rubble whilst lining their own pockets.

Once the Tories are removed then i will turn my full attention to Starmer & Labour over gender / safety issues.

Nappyvalley15 · 22/06/2024 06:47

If labour are not listening to you now to court your vote, why they listen to you when they have their stonking majority?

This.

Women's rights are too important for me.

I'm sure Labour will win but I would rather see them lose and have to think long and hard about why than win and take it as an endorsement of their policies (rather than just not being the Tories, which is all they have got to offer after 14 years in opposition).

Do you think The Grauniad would publish it? Do you know how articles get published?

fiestaforevertilnow · 22/06/2024 09:30

But once (if) they get in you can almost guarantee there will be a ...BUT

So yes, they have vaginas but if a penis haver identifies as a woman we have to be kind.

When this question came up on Question time he went all drippy.
