Anyone fancy a discussion thread?

In 2016 before the Brexit vote, on tv debates about Brexit, the audiences largely clapped for the remain position. Never read too much into TV audiences.

Daisy sounds like she just passed Lamda level

Yep, her and the green lady aren't natural public speakers. Daisy looks like a school prefect reading off their notes at speech day.

Don't think many could do better tbh, I certainly couldn't and I have a job where you present. Just think of the pressure and the near certainty that if you fuck up you will be made into a meme and featured on next week's Have I Got News for You.

I remember that!

If you'd relied solely on the BBC 'balanced' audience reactions, you'd have thought the end result would be 90% remain, 8% undecided and 2% leave.

Judging by reactions from the neighbours gardens...Farage was coming across very well.

Umm - I think you mean left wing.

QT audiences are predominantly right wing because they’re selected in the same proportion as votes in 2019. It’ll be interesting to see how it changes post 6 July.

😁 Has a truer polling method ever been devised? Next debate we should all open the patio doors, have an earwig, and report back. We'd have yougov on the back foot.

At what point do we stop pretending that farage is a politician. He's a saboteur, one we have allowed to disrupt the democratic process for long enough. He doesn't want to be an mp. He just wants the opportunity to spread his vicious shite to further divide society, because that's what he is being paid to do.

Quite

Wish it was just Labour, Con and Nigel debating
Mordaunt has been given the brief to be aggressive; not a good look for anyone

Why should he be there above LibDems and the green party and Scotland and Wales?

Spot on

Farage on actually doing a job as an mp:

“Do I want to be an MP. Do I want to spend every Friday for the next five years in Clacton?”

He’s a grifting snake oil salesman selling his wares to the gullible.

Quite, almost as accurate as basing it on the BBC audience reaction though 😆

Why does Mordaunt have Thatcher hair??

I wish I had such hair, Thatcher or not.
🥲

determinedtomakethiswork · 07/06/2024 22:09

Who was it who said well this is dignified isn't it?

determinedtomakethiswork · 07/06/2024 22:10

I didn't think Penny actually was defending Rishi Sunak. I thought she was quite enjoying saying how awful it was what he said.

She was separating herself from him then, not supporting him.

ssd · 07/06/2024 22:10

Mordaunt was desperately channelling Thatcher here

Rayner has lovely hair

She does.

That is complete nonsense btw. 😂

blue345 · 07/06/2024 22:29

If I'm being harsh to my fellow womankind and this is meant light heartedly as their political views are the key thing not their appearance.

But Penny's hair looked like the hairspray heavy not-moving-an-inch hairstyle reminiscent of Dallas in the 1980s. And while Angela was very certainly wearing her party's colour with pride, it didn't look great with her hair colour.

Thought the presenter was better than Julie Whatshername who came across rather like a grumpy headmistress in the Starmer Sunak debate.

They explained exactly this at the top of the show.

I thought she was channelling Truss! 😂

Maia77 · 07/06/2024 22:47

Stephen Flynn was the best by far.

Piggywaspushed · 07/06/2024 22:49

Well, it was said out loud at the beginning by Mishal Hussain.

SeriaMau · 07/06/2024 22:54

Put your fingers down, Penny. Not a good look.
