Sunak: Stupid or a bare faced liar?

TooBigForMyBoots · 05/06/2024 16:31

In last night's debate, he repeatedly made a big deal out of a "completely independent report" about Labour costing £2000 per household. It was his answer to nearly everything.Hmm

But it was known to be a lie. So why did he tell it? Did he think people wouldn't find out? Has he not learnt that the country is sick to the back teeth of lying Tory PMs?

Who thought this was a good idea?Shock

A liar...🤥

Sunak: Stupid or a bare faced liar?
TooBigForMyBoots · 05/06/2024 21:43

The thing I'm struggling with is: did Sunak know about this before the debate?

Of course he did. He certainly knew about it this morning and still posted this.

It has been proven to be a lie. Fact, so no opinion needed.

I know. Brazen is the only word.

I know. Brazen is the only word.

I don't know. Gaslighting, lying, arrogant, contemptuous and bastards are other words that could apply.Angry

At least it got community noted.

LlynTegid · 06/06/2024 07:08

Well the latest poll has Reform even closer to the Tory vote, so those remaining Tory voters may be seeing through it.

HowardTJMoon · 06/06/2024 07:13

It's a lie so brazen you could almost imagine Trump coming out with it. That the Tory party has to stoop this low speaks volumes.

Badbadbunny · 06/06/2024 07:16

Of course he’s a liar. He lied several times when challenged in 2020 about the 3 million people he excluded from covid support.

Icanwalkintheroom · 06/06/2024 07:24

He’s a moderately clever person who thinks he’s cleverer than he is and therefore also that everyone else is stupid and will swallow whatever he says.

TBF that could describe most of the Tory government.

LittleBowSheep · 06/06/2024 07:28

You could tell he was lying because his lips were moving.

MushMonster · 06/06/2024 07:28

We do all know the answer to this question by now. After years of this....

frankentall · 05/06/2024 17:19

It does seem odd there appear to have been no grown ups in the room to point out that this would blow up in his face.

Silly move making £2000 worse off since can be disproved.

Or clever move, since people still believe and repeat it. Lies whip around quickly and the truth follows much slower (or something like that). Hence by the time some realise its a lie the damage is done.

Many do swallow what he says. The people repeating on various TV shows yesterday were totally believing what he said. No lessons learnt there.

Westfacing · 06/06/2024 07:35

Well we know he's a proven liar from his appearance at the Covid Enquiry - this tech bro said under oath he'd somehow lost his WhatsApps.

FiveFoxes · 05/06/2024 21:30

All the Tory papers ran with this lie. And the Today programme radio was repeating it as the headline this morning, before saying that Labour were disputing it.

It will spread and be believed. Think about how many people are now repeating that KS doesn't have a plan when he clearly does. He just doesn't have stupid plans like National Service.

Labour's manifesto has not yet been released so KS quite literally does not have a plan. People are currently voting in hope and hot air.

All of the debate was aimed at persuading those who plan to vote Reform to reconsider.

This tax line was aimed at them, not the people who've decided to vote Labour IMO.

Rubbish. They have listed their missions publicly.

And if it were true you'd have to say the same about Sunak, despite his constant insistence that the plan is working since the Tory manifesto isn't out yet either.

Nobody’s voting yet and won’t be for another four weeks. Not knowing what the plan is doesn’t mean there isn’t one. Labour literally has got a plan which will be revealed in the manifesto before we vote.

The Conservatives haven't published theirs yet either. This is entirely normal.

The same criticism was thrown at Blair, and at Cameron - it is completely standard for an opposition party to be accused of not having a plan.

Amazing how many have fallen for this nonsense this time round.

That's what 'incumbancy factor' is all about - people know who you are.

No one is voting for the Tories. Labour is expected to win by a landslide - on what? There is no manifesto. I keep checking there website and it's not there.

Marketing soundbites are not a plan. Many of these might not come to fruition when a proper cost analysis is done.
