Tonight's TV debate Sunak v Starmer - any predictions?

Anyone up for a watch thread? Maybe even debate bingo. I know I know, don't threaten me with a good time. (Bingo suggestions: natural party of business, Labour has no plan, end the chaos, Rayner will take over, assorted references to Starmer's time as DPP probably blaming for Jimmy Saville again, inflation is down etc etc.)

At this point I seriously doubt anything like this will remotely change the game Nick Clegg style. I read somewhere the only way Sunak could come out of this ahead in the polls is if Starmer pulled off a mask scooby-doo style to reveal he's Jeremy Corbyn, which admittedly would be great telly.

I'm so fed up with the endless rhetoric but will definitely watch later anyway.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It would be nice if they could have a discussion without taking constant potshots at each other.

If they were at my dinner table behaving like this I’d throw them out.

Better than his rival.

Afraid not..

L1ttledrummergirl · 04/06/2024 21:18

I'm a bit behind, but why is Sunak shouting?

I must be watching a different debate from everyone else! I am pleasantly surprised by Starmer, who seems a bit less stodgy than usual, and I think Sunak is coming across as completely out of his depth. He sounds like a petulant teenager who only has a few sentences scribbled on the back of his hand and is hoping they will do.

Yea. Sunsk has been told to try and attack and occupy the time. Starmer is waiting for a killer line that makes the news if anything. How many people will watch it all? Not many. But there will be a lot of clips on social media

Allwelcone · 04/06/2024 21:18

It's just quite annoying and stressful isn't it

MrsWhites · 04/06/2024 21:19

Starmer what would you do about waiting times?

‘Well, they need to be resolved!’

No shit Sherlock! Neither coming across well on the NHS!

Yeah. Feels a bit like watching weaklings for entertainment

Sunak is coming across as a spoilt brat. Oh wait

Tetchy Rishi.

Starmer is not giving any indication of what Labour is going to actually do to change things for the better, all he is doing is trashing the Tories which is fine but he needs to give some actual details of their plans to improve it.

Yes, this. I'm going to vote Labour anyway, as have a great local MP, but Starmer says absolutely nothing of substance

Allwelcone · 04/06/2024 21:20

Yeah like 2 arguing pre-teens lol not

coffeandteav · 04/06/2024 21:20

HRTQueen · 04/06/2024 21:21

I think RS is looking like a petulant child

i am slightly distracted how have they made RS look the same height as KS

No3387 · 04/06/2024 21:21

Sunak needs to shut the fuck up and let starmer answer

EalingLucy · 04/06/2024 21:21

Oh shut Sunak with your shitty little giggle

Ive known many men with this ‘style’ in my personal and professional life.

Drown out the opposition, being aggressive, expect your opposition to retreat.

Wewereonnabreak · 04/06/2024 21:21

Starmer. Liar.

OneFrenchEgg · 04/06/2024 21:21

What a change from the MN cries of 'dishy Rishi'

I dont like either of them tbh.

Or the host who is appalling.

She’s allowing Sunak more time than starmer.

She's not very good at stopping either of them over running the time and she's let Sunk shout over Starmer.

Jambeforecreamalways · 04/06/2024 21:22

Sunak is so rude! He keeps interrupting everyone…
And would Starmer really not have private healthcare?

Notsonifty50 · 04/06/2024 21:22

KS is a liar. Of course he'd use private health care.

OccasionalHope · 04/06/2024 21:22

Hotnamehere · 04/06/2024 21:04

Both had a nice hair do.

Now I thought they both looked awful. Especially Keir, but not a lot in it.

StripedPiggy · 04/06/2024 21:23

Predictable dynamic. Sunak on the attack because he has nothing to lose. Starmer cautious because he has everything to lose.

I don’t believe for a second that he doesn’t use private healthcare. It’s not a credible thing for him to claim.
