Tonight's TV debate Sunak v Starmer - any predictions?

Anyone up for a watch thread? Maybe even debate bingo. I know I know, don't threaten me with a good time. (Bingo suggestions: natural party of business, Labour has no plan, end the chaos, Rayner will take over, assorted references to Starmer's time as DPP probably blaming for Jimmy Saville again, inflation is down etc etc.)

At this point I seriously doubt anything like this will remotely change the game Nick Clegg style. I read somewhere the only way Sunak could come out of this ahead in the polls is if Starmer pulled off a mask scooby-doo style to reveal he's Jeremy Corbyn, which admittedly would be great telly.

I'm so fed up with the endless rhetoric but will definitely watch later anyway.

This is fucking cringe.

MagnetCarHair · 04/06/2024 22:03

Oh God, I hate this football bollocks.

Anxiousheartbeat · 04/06/2024 22:03

Are they really not asking about women’s spaces

LumiB · 04/06/2024 22:03

Omg answer the damn question!!! Fuck me

In other words build.over green land...there goes the environment...

Not necessarily - brownfield sites and converting commercial buildings to housing are both good options.

MrsWhites · 04/06/2024 22:04

Jesus Christ - he can’t even answer the question from Gareth Southgate!

I totally agree with you, however what is Starmer planning to change or do about any of that? They've literally not offered any suggestions or said they would change anything? Only they'd recruit more teachers...how?

Let’s see what the manifesto says. The key thing they should do is listen to teachers and the teaching unions and form policy from there. I think Labour are more likely to do that than the tories are.

MatterhornMartini · 04/06/2024 22:04

Starmer had a better ending there.

Cornettoninja · 04/06/2024 22:04

Rishi showing off he’s been speaking to people… well done lad. You’ve not been PM that long, it shouldn’t be such a novelty.

OneFrenchEgg · 04/06/2024 22:04

'On the footie' <cringe>

LunaNorth · 04/06/2024 22:04

HE CANT EVEN ANSWER THAT

Wewereonnabreak · 04/06/2024 22:04

Starmer offers a plan. No idea what’s in it.

Springchickenonion · 04/06/2024 22:04

That was a waste of time

KS = capable Dad vibes

Indeed. Sensible and paternal.

My dad is sensible & paternal. He'd be a wank PM. A bit like Keir.

BIossomtoes · 04/06/2024 22:05

LunaNorth · 04/06/2024 22:04

HE CANT EVEN ANSWER THAT

Stop shouting. Sunak’s done quite enough for one evening.

LeviOsaNotLeviosaa · 04/06/2024 22:05

Some of you are seriously hard of listening and, frankly, beyond help. If you put your cross in a blue box in July then there’s no hope for you.

What on earth is the appeal of more of this utter shit.

I can’t believe KS was a barrister. He’s the least articulate barrister ever.

Are we sure he wasn’t a barista?

Ha! Grin

Buffoons the pair of them.

Circleinthesand81 · 04/06/2024 22:05

Personally I'm just fondly remembering Nick Clegg on these debates.

He has on education - immediate recruitment of 6,500 teachers paid for by the VAT on private schools.

Sadly that’s just a headline grabber. By the time they’ve taken into account the children moving back to State school from private and the schools reclaiming back VAT that they could not previously it will not generate as much as they claim.

Yeah I'm gonna have to de stress now what tossers

MatterhornMartini · 04/06/2024 22:05

Doesn’t he understand that most can’t vote for him or Starmer?

Wewereonnabreak · 04/06/2024 22:05

Anxiousheartbeat · 04/06/2024 22:03

Are they really not asking about women’s spaces

Hopefully in the next one. 🙄

MagnetCarHair · 04/06/2024 22:05

Why are they both doing a demon headmaster stare?

ilovesooty · 04/06/2024 22:05

They should have asked Sunak how he rated the chances of Wales in the Euros.

Look how well that turned out.
