Tonight's TV debate Sunak v Starmer - any predictions?

Anyone up for a watch thread? Maybe even debate bingo. I know I know, don't threaten me with a good time. (Bingo suggestions: natural party of business, Labour has no plan, end the chaos, Rayner will take over, assorted references to Starmer's time as DPP probably blaming for Jimmy Saville again, inflation is down etc etc.)

At this point I seriously doubt anything like this will remotely change the game Nick Clegg style. I read somewhere the only way Sunak could come out of this ahead in the polls is if Starmer pulled off a mask scooby-doo style to reveal he's Jeremy Corbyn, which admittedly would be great telly.

I'm so fed up with the endless rhetoric but will definitely watch later anyway.

I'm interested in what KS says about Gaza it's pretty important to some of his seats

They've done that.

He was very clear.

Oh wow RS scaremongering about boilers. Desperate.

Not really as i can't afford to convert.my terraced house to air source hest pump and I wouldn't be eligible for any grants or help. I agree that things need to be done but it should ost us money we can't afford to pay

It does make them isolated from reality, however

It makes them less likely to become extremely rich off the back of being PM tho. Look at Tony Blair with his institution with 600 employees derived solely after leaving office.

Yes visit them in Wales under labour…

Remind me where the Labour government in Wales get their funding from?

How anyone can vote for Starmer after watching this is beyond me. We are headed for dark times under Labour.

😂 because we aren't already in Tory created dark times? Totally broken NHS, increased child poverty, broken education system etc etc

'Dark times under labour' LMAO

MatterhornMartini · 04/06/2024 21:57

He is a failure and shit at his job.

Allwelcone · 04/06/2024 21:57

Hotnamehere · 04/06/2024 21:57

Exactly. Air source heat pumps won’t work for the vast majority of uk homes.

There is an exodus because the tories have made the education system so miserable. Testing testing testing. Scrapping the nice subjects. Saddling kids with homework and stress. Schools are so grim now no wonder teachers are leaving.

same with doctors and nurses. We’re training people to leave and work in Australia.

I totally agree with you, however what is Starmer planning to change or do about any of that? They've literally not offered any suggestions or said they would change anything? Only they'd recruit more teachers...how?

BIossomtoes · 04/06/2024 21:57

Laughter at national service. 😂

MrsWhites · 04/06/2024 21:57

Oh his national service plan isn’t going down well with the audience!

Hotnamehere · 04/06/2024 21:57

OOh laughing at the NS bollocks from the audience.

ilovesooty · 04/06/2024 21:57

They're laughing at Sunak talking about young people.

Jellykat · 04/06/2024 21:58

I'm sick of RS saying they need to do more, theyve had 14 bloody years to do it!

LumiB · 04/06/2024 21:58

Allwelcone · 04/06/2024 21:57

@LumiB you won't have to RS was scaremongering

Yeah except I live in London and s een what labour do, no we won't extend ulez...oh wait we will and we don't care. We won't it do pay per mile but wait let me have tfl start looking into how it would work

Dymaxion · 04/06/2024 21:58

Someone being rich doesn’t make them evil

I didn't call him evil , I just mentioned that he is richer than the King @Anxiousheartbeat

LaurieFairyCake · 04/06/2024 21:58

They're laughing at him Grin

Therichgetricher · 04/06/2024 21:58

user1984778379202 · 04/06/2024 21:54

He has on education - immediate recruitment of 6,500 teachers paid for by the VAT on private schools.

Which might just cover the kids who’ve just left the private system to join the state system. It won’t make a jot of difference to the outcome of the kids currently in state education.

MatterhornMartini · 04/06/2024 21:58

Who is he talking to?

itsgettingweird · 04/06/2024 21:59

Sunak just says such a patronising tone of voice.

I can't vote for him because he speaks to me as the electorate like I'm an idiotic child.

Anxiousheartbeat · 04/06/2024 21:59

Tbf Keir has 0 ideas

LunaNorth · 04/06/2024 21:59

I can’t believe KS was a barrister. He’s the least articulate barrister ever.

Are we sure he wasn’t a barista?
