ok, lets actually have a quick vote on the Compulsory National Service at 18 idea

I dont think any of the threads running have an actual poll. I can't believe anyone would go along with enforced labour of 18 year olds, particularly when dictated by someone so immensely wealthy, privileged and so utterly out of touch.

Lets see

My kids already spent/spend their weekends delivering prescriptions-no car needed as it’s all done in foot from the local chemist. Where my teens work. You know, for money.

I presume Rishi wants them to get paid for 3 weekends and then do the same work on the 4th weekend, but unpaid!?

I wonder how many people will want their neighbour's 18 year old knowing about their bum medicine?

Why would they know? When I pick up my prescriptions, they always come in a bag - I'd expect that for deliveries, too.

Here they'd need a car, for which at minimum wage they'd need to work 24 hours or more to pay the insurance. That's 3 shifts of 8 hrs. Add in another 2 shifts of mandatory volunteering and that would leave them with 3 shifts left in their month to earn living expenses if they were only able to work weekends.
