hiya, i have a new laptop, and i can't get it to connect to my livebox.

background--my pc is connected directly to orange broadband thru my bt socket upstairs. had never used my live box, and it's been in the box for 3 yrs.

Dug it out and tried to set it up down stairs so my lappy can access my account, but it doesn't want to. I spent one hour on the phone to orange who said i should just go to a wifi cafe or something and check it's not my new lappy.

I then thought lets start formthe beginning andtried to install the livebox via the ethernet port on my pc first. But got totally confused by what was supposed to go where.

i am stuck.

Oh, so you didn't login with my e-mail address ?

Only I cannot login to view computers without knowing the e-mail address you used...

hence suggestion to use user/pass
of user (my email peter@ ...)
and pass (MN user of pirate...)

piratecat · 18/06/2010 18:20

poo, no i am so sorry i got it wrong.

If you saved the LogMeIn file you downloaded, you could try installing again, and when asked, say to uninstall old version (then during install this time, use the e-mail and password as suggested, please)

Hope that makes sense.

NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 18:21

Ah - don't worry - no lives lost

piratecat · 18/06/2010 18:21

ah, you said in a post i could email you about all this, but didn't say i could use your email for the logmein thingy, or to use my name pirate?

OP posts:
piratecat · 18/06/2010 18:22

can't i just send yo an invition?

OP posts:
NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 18:25

Maybe I wasn't clear enough about using the info for LogMeIn Here's what I wrote:

Wed 16-Jun-10 22:52:02 >

LogMeIn needs to install some software, but first you'd need to login (using my e-mail address and your MN screen name as password) if you want to give it a go.

NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 18:26

sending me an invite is to get me to install the software... sending me an e-mail would be OK though - so as I can (finally!) find out your e-mail address LOL

NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 18:27

Actually more secure that way, if you e-mail me, as it means no-one else can see info, and after today you can change password to prevent me snooping on your PC

piratecat · 18/06/2010 18:28

hi, ok are you sure your email address below is correct, becuase it wouldn't let me use it in an invitation to view my desktop?

I will email you properly from my pc here, if you confirm that addy. have to make my dd some tea right now, will endevour to getback asap.

OP posts:
NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 18:29

only kidding - it comes up with a box anyway to let you know if someone is online and looking 'over your shoulder'...

you can simply uninstall the software later on, once this ethernet link is working!

NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 18:30

[email protected]

OK will check for a new post on this thread after 7pm - enough time?

piratecat · 18/06/2010 18:39

hi just emailed you

OP posts:
NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 19:00

e-mail came in OK

On LogMeIn if you login and then click on Account and then Change Password
it will let you change the LogMeIn password (which I will need to login, before I can connect to your PC)

NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 19:02

please set something temporary and then e-mail me the LogMeIn password ... once ethernet is working, you can set the password to something else to block any unwanted access.

piratecat · 18/06/2010 19:23

have emailed!

footy is starting in a min !!!

OP posts:
NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 19:25

"footy is starting in a min"

is that a problem?

Oh, OK, if you want to watch that, don't worry. I will probably listen to the radio while you are 'busy'

Not bothered about football - I only follow Snooker and even then it's rare I would watch snooker in place of NCIS or CSI !

piratecat · 18/06/2010 19:39

oh no it's cool, it's on in background!

OP posts:
piratecat · 18/06/2010 19:40

piratecat · 18/06/2010 19:44

OP posts:
NetworkGuy · 18/06/2010 19:45

piratecat · 18/06/2010 19:47

OP posts:
piratecat · 18/06/2010 19:49
