Oh I wish there was one, it would make MNetting so much easier...

Those in favour say 'aye'.

Hopefully the lovely, lovely people at MNHQ will see this and if we get enough interest we may actually get an application......pleeeaaaasssee!

Maybe write to Steve "Dear Mr Jobs, your iPhone is a great piece of NewShiny (and thanks for finally allowing me to cut'n'paste!), but how about fixing it so you can, you know, navigate around webpages properly without growing old while waiting for it to load or accidentally clicking on links?"

I'd say that is a better approach than going to every website in the world saying "I've got a great piece of NewShiny and it doesn't work very well on standards-compliant web sites like yours. So you need to write and maintain a specific application, that breaks the fundamental purpose of that thar Interwebs, just so my toy works with your site. kthxbye!"

Aye! Was just thinking this morning how great that would be.

What do MN Towers think about it? Anyone know?

DH is looking for ideas for apps to develop for the iPhone - I'll have to suggest it to him!

DottyDotsOfBloodOnTheFloor · 03/11/2009 18:12

I think I'm probably already on this thread somewhere - have been hassling asking MN for this for a while..!

It needs to be compatible with Palm though!

Snorbs · 03/11/2009 18:20

Leonie, the iPhone doesn't support Java. The licensing agreement for the iPhone Software Dev Kit explicitly prohibits developing things like Java for it.

seeker · 03/11/2009 18:21

Aye!!!!!

ILiveinhope · 03/11/2009 18:26

AYE!

MrAnchovy · 09/11/2009 01:10

I have a front-end for Mumsnet that works in almost any browser, including iPhone Safari. I am not sure what would persuade me to release it because Mumsnet Towers could stop it working if they wanted to.

Any comment?

ReneRusso · 09/11/2009 22:37

Is there any reason they would be against it? Have you approached mumsnet towers with it?

LyraSilvertongue · 09/11/2009 22:42

Aye. I've just got an iphone and have spent the evening busily downloading apps for all sorts of things. i want an MN one now.

Nyx · 09/11/2009 22:51

Aye. I would love a MN app for iPhone

IdrisTheDragon · 09/11/2009 23:36

I find mumsnet fine on my iPod touch. But I do like apps it has to be said.

JustineMumsnet · 16/11/2009 12:01

MrAnchovy - do give us a shout if you think there's something we should know about/collaborate on?

We aren't planning an i-phone app right now because, as Snorbs so expertly put it, we don't really have the development resources to do it. But never say never, eh?

Alouiseg · 23/03/2010 08:39
