Oh god oh god i need to sort out my mobile phone upgrade but i don't have the strength. can someone just tell me which shiny new phone to get, please?

i've had a handspring treo 650 for the last couple of years and it's a bit gubbed now. i love it, but it looks like i've picked the Betamax video equivalent and it's been supplanted by the inferior Blackberry. gggrrrrrrrrr.

anyway, i am a bit geeky but tbh it looks like most phones do email, interweb etc nowadays so what else should i look for? i could go a decent camera as the treo one is crapola.

also, i'm probably paying far too much now as my tariff was arranged ages ago. honestly pre-dd i was the sort of person who was On Top Of Things, now i can't sort my arse from my elbow... any ideas?

how does the flash work? is it one of those silly lights or a proper flashy flash? is it really like have a sony cybershot with you all the time? (because i might like that)... [sile]

I now have my Samsung U600. It's also got a 3.2mp camera and it looks fab. Very slimline, with radio, mp3 etc. Very pleased with it so far.

Flash works fine, have a look at the photo in my profile. It was taken indoors with the phone.

I did buy an extra memory card though as I kept running out of space. Was using it a lot at the time because DS dropped our camera and broke it. Would be ok for the odd photo

Barcodes like the one I created are bigger in South Korea and Japan where those down with their tech' can extract urls, phone numbers and adverts etc from codes on boxes and in magazine

Down with their tech?? I am sooo ungeeky. But I might use that phrase sometimes to make me sound like I actually understand that kind of stuff.

i've got some news on the Nokia 95 thingybob... phones, ladies. apparently one in three of them is reporting software problems and orange aren't going to to be buying any more in until the bugs are fixed. so any n95s being sold now are just existing stock getting sold off and they're not really recommending that people buy them... looks like you've been lucky with yours aimsmum.
i've gone for the Orange 65 jobbie that kaloo recommended, for the record, and so has DH. am looking forward to the slide-out screen.

about the N95. I think I said it's the first phone for years I've liked the look of and felt good about the features - mostly cos it has coincided with my digi camera having some problems and DH being more desperate for GPS.

Mind you, I found this review which points out a few flaws, not to mention the many comments online about re-starts, poor battery life etc.

Looks like I will have to sit and wait. Or buy new camera and DH get his GPS.
