My hanging basket has been a riot this year, and ALL the plants in it were cheap little plugs from Aldi!
I've been blown away by them.

I love those big blousey fuschia in your basket @Moonlamp they are a wonderful staple in summer hanging baskets aren't they. I have the upright version on a few of my patio pots and the bees love them!

Beautiful gardens. I will try to remember to take a photo of mine later.

Here is my garden this morning. I've just had it done and it was only planted in June. It's doing very well and even with the recent heavy rain and now the cold it's still flowering away.

This is the view from my kitchen , we moved in here just before Christmas last year so leaving it todo it’s own thing this year so we can see what’s there, needs a good tidy up, but I love it

ApolloandDaphne and Mummumgem thanks for posting your gorgeous carpets of flowers. Crazy that we are now in October and still so many in bloom. I love all the dense planting with so many varieties, it must be a lovely surprise Mummumgem to see what is in your beds!

TammyJones · 13/10/2023 18:10

I love this picture. The red admirals have been plentiful this year.

DH finished the trellis in the front garden today, when we moved in I said the front looks like an office parking space, it needs flowers 😂. This wall is next doors out building, it was built over 200 years ago but so ugly !. The plan is to plant climbers over the trellis to hide it. The gravel area will then still be used by visitors to park, and I plan on tubs along the building under the windows.

This is the other side of the front, please excuse the bin !. The brick wall is the side of the garage, you can see the car in front of it in the other photo. The path leads to the front door. I know it sounds strange m but we are tucked behind two houses, our drive is down the side of one house, which means the front garden is very secluded, down can see the courtyard bit unless they walk down the long drive ( it’s the length of the front house and their back garden, and it’s a very quiet road. It’s a real sun trap so I’m thinking of building a dry garden, not sure quite what yet, we placed the slabs in the middle for pots over the summer but they are just on the gravel. The previous owners parked their cars there, like I say, a big car park !

It's amazing how long things have flowered this year! Some lovely blooms on here still!
Spent all day in the sun planting bulbs in the garden and also in pots. Figured it's got cold enough to risk it now!
What a beautiful day!

Still lots of colour in London. Dahlias going strong but these persicaria are my current favourite.

Fab photos, and so late in the year. But now I think of it, when I lived in London, the October half term was often mild. As well as being the reminder to do the Christmas present-buying! There is no such jog to the memory here. The Melbourne Cup is all very well, but it's not like the week away from school to get the shopping done.

KingscoteStaff · 28/10/2023 13:12

Last few blooms in the Autumn sunshine! Probably the last time we’ll have lunch with the doors open, too.
