My rose at the front, and ignore the bed that needs clearing out:

What glorious gardens you all have. I have been waiting for my poppies to come out and the first one has obliged.

Morning all! Love all those roses. My GJ has flowered but it’s quite restrained - not in the ideal spot I realise - too dry (but too established to move).

Alliums and geraniums are looking good in my garden at the moment. This geranium can flop as soon as it gets a little dry so this year I’ve put in a support which has really helped.

Beautiful combination! I have just purchased a similar looking extremely odorous geranium but mine has delicate white petals and yellow green leaves. It has an exotic name and is supposedly being cultivated for perfume but cannot remember its name! I will try to figure out how to include a photo and find its name. Bringing it home from the growers' it was almost overwhelming heavenlyness.

Oh I’d love to know what it’s called - do update!

EmmaJane25 -was envy at your beautiful greenhouse - would love one of those , mind you also your garden is so neat

Thank you. It actually isn’t particularly neat, I just picked the best angle for the photo! 😌 But thanks 🪴

Raised bed planted in random pinks in memory of my lovely cat Rose 🐈‍⬛. And a random rhubarb plant which was obviously already in that bed and provided the most delicious rhubarb crumble last week. It was her favourite place to scratch her claws on

That’s gorgeous @Defiantly41 - a good memorial.

At last some rain here. These are my hostas - they are doing well this year as it’s so dry (so far fewer slugs and snails); I grow them with a moat and do also have a check at night before I go to bed. Only one casualty so far ..

They do look very healthy, Wobbly.

Toootss · 27/05/2025 17:06

We’ve been up north to visit DD for a few days and the garden has grown a foot!

Here is my volunteer poppy and the foxgloves grown from seed last year in the new shed.

@ApolloandDaphne my poppy refused to turn to face the camera - I spent ages trying to twist it round before imagining the nemesis that would fall if I snapped it!

My salvia cerro potosi is flowering. We planted this two years back and it was glorious but it didn't survive our Scottish winter. We planted more last year as I like it so much and lifted it over the winter. It managed fine in the greenhouse and it is doing well. This is one of about 8 plants. It was well worth the effort.

Lovely flowers everyone! Especially love that tulip @Gribbit987 :0! And that peony @ApolloandDaphne.

I've finally started to attempt one of the gardens. I'm attempting to make my first ever border. Any tips would be most welcome. Have I put the plants too close together? I want a lovely full border but I'm not sure whether the plants should be spaced out and let time fill them in.

Thank you in advance

Well they are a bit close but as long as you sort them out at the end of the year, dividin or moving them, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Trueloveneverdies · 28/05/2025 16:15

I think they are too close as well. On each pot it tells you the eventual spread and height of the plant. I’d use that as a guide and plant slightly closer than that to get that fuller look. This will leave you some space to infill with other flowers too if you want more colour throughout the year - annuals are great for this. You’ve picked some lovely things, it’s going to look great!

Trueloveneverdies · 28/05/2025 16:19

My hostas have loved all this rain ❤️

.

Whataretalkingabout · 28/05/2025 18:35

@greenerfingers Good for you! I would try to move them away from the wall about 50cm. It is often too dry and hot at the base of a wall. Also spread them out a bit to allow for growth. I would add about 1/3 of persistents- for year round interest. It is going to look great!

@applecatchers36How beautiful! My neighbour is very lucky, here are a couple from mine underneath.
Im planning on buying some of the Callicarpa berry plants at the weekend, any tips welcome. I want to get a few berry plants mixed in with my shrubs that look pretty over winter too if anyone has any suggestions.

It’s stunning, They opened the garden and did a coffee and cake weekend for the public to raise money for a new roof. I couldn’t believe it, just beautiful.
