Now bookbook has sadly left us, and stirred into action by @DobbleDobble, I think it’s time to start a general thread for those of us who try to grow edible produce, fruit, veg, herbs, to share successes, failures, questions and answers

Consistent daily pickings now. Had a terrible year with aphids but I'm too pregnant to care. They've made a horrid comeback and are ravaging my beans currently. Surprisingly however strawberries had a second resurgence, much to my toddlers glee.

Lots of tomatoes and one slightly overgrown courgette.

Courgettes have been a bit disappointing given a promising start.

It seems only the tomatoes and chillis have appreciated the warm weather. Unfortunately I now have covid and can't taste a thing so can't even enjoy the tomatoes :-(

So far, it looks as though the drought hasn't killed off my new fruit trees 🤞💥🥂

My fruit bushes are still in pots at the house, awaiting the completion of the U shaped raised bed in the poly tunnel frame.
I have constructed them from free bricks and blocks, from Freecycle, including a slab path down the middle, which I've just laid on membrane. But I've run out, so I'm hoping for more to come up…
(I suppose I'll have to carry on naming each raised bed, so I'll call that one Floyd)
My plan is to net the whole frame, as a fruit cage.

Next week, I am having a trailer of horse poo delivered, thanks to our livery owning friends.
I got a good crop of early potatoes in Sebastian and we've now got some pumpkins, which are taking over the whole bed, plus making a run for it across the grass.
I got some runner beans and onions from George and my cabbages in John are absolutely huge. It takes us about a week to eat one.
Apart from getting the rhubarb and asparagus in, we haven't done a lot else, mostly construction of beds, tunnel and compost bins, and getting a small container to use as a shed, which was very excitingly delivered and sited by crane.
Sadly, as we're on clay, I have had to abandon the idea of upended wine bottles as a nice border, because the ground is so hard and impacted, I can't dig holes to get them in. Not even with a garden corkscrew thing on a drill.
