You're welcome, ALWAYS.
Ha, BEAUTY! I almost gave my ndn a heartattack every time he saw me..."SWEETPEA, you are going to fall from up there and kill yourself". And I have to sneak up there when my DH isn't watching, too.
APPLE, It has taken several years to put it together. It is kind of an ongoing project, though as I have to constantly do battle with squirrels, gophers, slugs and snails. Who knew snails love cacti? I've gotten most of my plants from the throw away bin at my local shop or cuttings from friends....and all the hardscape has been dug out of neighbours bins on trash day...so it is really a RECYCLE garden.
I recommend the succulents if you haven't tried them. There are thousands of specimens for all climates and the flowers are so unusual. And basically, carefree...I once left an agave out of soil for about 6 months, then popped it in the ground and it took off growing.

Yup @AnneKipanki app, snap.

Love all the hydrangeas and the cacti are amazing @Sweetpea1532. I've been enjoying my succulent flowers this summer, they are always so unusual looking and often bright Grin

Sweetpea1532 · 18/07/2020 19:54

Thank you, Anne for the beautiful morning sunshine photo...it cheered me right up. Is that an evergreen in the background? It's lovely to accent your flowers.

The temperature is a lovely 72 degrees F....although at night the temps go down into the low 60's.
August and September here can be extremely hot and humid or hot and dry. In the high 90s for many days in a row...sometimes even low 100s.
ALWAYS, what did you think of gophers? Would you like for me to send you a few? They are the cheekiest little dickens! If I dig near their tunnels, the next morning when I come out, they have made a huge mess of things...digging out a huge fan-shaped mound of soil..sometimes even burying some of my plantsHmm. Its a constant battle....but they are helpful with aerating our compacted clay soil hereGrin
Photo is of my front garden....see my sweetpeas on the fence?Smile They smell heavenly and they planted themselves.

Just like the moles of Scotland, I think they are fascinating GrinSmile This thread has been educational Smile

I love your garden. I love that you Americans fly your flag, so proud and patriotic. We don't do that 😐

AnneKipanki · 18/07/2020 20:15

It is , and it is Pinus Sylvestris , ( Scot's Pine ).
That is steep sweetpea . I love the blue / green of your metal work .

Anne is that mole in your garden? 😍
It amazes me that we can all chat and share photos, and we are from all corners of the world !!!

AnneKipanki · 18/07/2020 22:13

It was on the driveway. It was rather bizarre. I ended up putting it in a bucket and taking it away from my property. I did not want it digging.Smile

AnneKipanki · 18/07/2020 22:14

I have no idea how it got there . It might have been dropped by a bird but it looked uninjured.

OP posts:
AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 18/07/2020 22:24

Oh, if a bird could carry it, then it's much smaller than I'm imagining it to be. Still amazing though.
I remember showing it to my h when you posted a pic on the other thread, and he was equally amazed! I made sure to keep my thumb firmly held over my MN username though WinkGrin

I agree @popgoesperfection It's so lovely to share. And we all have so many of the same plants.
It's so lovely to share and compare. I don't really know anyone in real life with the same interest. People visit my home and briefly comment (with a perplexed head tilt) and then quickly change the subject Grin

hedgehogger1 · 18/07/2020 22:45

@always2ndbest I love your penguins. Could you share wheee they are from please?

Mamia15 · 19/07/2020 02:15

Sweet pea - what a stunning garden! Love the deep pink providing pops of colour. Nice to see succulents planted in the ground - I have these in pots.

popgoesperfection · 19/07/2020 09:15

It looks so cute Anne !
I know what you mean Always. Friends think I'm mad because I potter about gardening in my spare time for pleasure and go to garden centres for fun 😂
Some iris oh treat me to Smile

I know. It was scrabbling around trying to dig into the tarmac. Poor thing.

I thought this thread couldn't get any better and then there was the mole!!

@GiantKitten Thank you for the Gardening Express link, I have ordered that box, perhaps foolishly as a newbie Blush I like to go hard or go home with my hobbies Grin I shall report back. Seeing as I'll likely kill them anyway, £5 is good to have Practice Plants.

Have also ordered large pots for my hydrangeas. Am hoping to share my own photo soon!

WobblyLondoner · 19/07/2020 12:28

Can I join in? My massive pink dahlia (in a pot, must divide before next year), banana plant & tiny little pineapple like flowers in a Eucomis.
