I'm watching the forecast. Seems fine this week.

If you are worried about frost then put the pots outside in a group and buy a roll of horticultural fleece. If the weather man says its going to be frosty then run outside and cover them all in frost.
That said I'm in the midlands and planted everything out a couple of weeks ago as DH was moaning about all the plant pots on every available window sil in the house!

i want raised beds so i can just put placcy tunnel house thingys over them.

for what it's worth, I planted my toms outside yesterday. Because:

1. We've had no frost for about a month here
2. it's been an unusually warm and dry April
3. I started checking the nightime temperatures during last week and it wasn't dropping below 12 degrees.

So all in all I decided I'd take the risk and plant out ... plus they needed repotting and I've been too busy with the veg garden.

Fingers crossed they'll be ok. They certainly look miles better already for coming out of those little pots.

thought of something else which you may be able to develop on - I've planted tomato seeds straight in to the ground and put upside down big glass jars over them to see what happens. It is something you see a lot of here - upside down jars, cut up soft drinks bottles, and bigger cut up plastic veg oil containers for bigger plants - mini greenhouses essentially. At least they are protected from the worst of the frost if it does come.
But it really depends on the size of your plants atm.

hmmm, yes i guess that would work. i think the posh word is 'cloche' or summink
apparently that provides frost protection. will try it next yr (or maybe even this yr if i get my raised beds sorted soon)

mine are still all in - but am in frozen north. will shove out soon, and as mentioned, will go outside to check temp about 9.30/10pm and if nippy will cover with fleece.
