I'm in Yorks and it is always said round here, not to put bedding plants in before the Spring Bank holiday. I once tried it in early May. My neighbour's expression on seeing them die was one of "I told you so".

HTH

This is a subject that has been bothering me. You are supposed to harden off your plants by putting them out in the daytime and in at night. I have been doing this for a couple of weeks and it is a faff. So I am going to leave them out as I have some fleece on standby.

We are in Yorkshire and not supposed to be frost safe until the end of May. But we have not had a frost for weeks. For the last few years I have been planting out tender plants mid May with no problems.

Ah interesting x-post smutti. Approx where in Yorkshire are you? Do you really think we will get another frost? TBH we have had the fewest frosts I can ever remember.

Bozza - W Yorks. No, can't really see us getting another frost but having wasted money before am not prepared to risk it again! Only prob is, that we have nowhere to store bedding plants, so we can only buy what's left.

Grrr.

Ah we are in W. Yorks too, just. You could do the covering up with fleece thing. I haven't bought any bedding plants yet, just stuff that I have grown from seed and I have bought some tomatoes and a lemon tree. My storage is my dining room and then I put them out in the day. We had a snail trail right across the carpet last week and searched and couldn't find the culprit. Then DD's 3yo was playing on Monday and said "why you got a snail in your house" and it was half way up the wall in the hall.

hmmmmmm.... i think ill risk putting them out pretty soon. when i can find time that is!
