What's looking good in your garden at the moment?

I'm looking for some flowery things to fill some midsummer gaps in the border.
I have fuchsias, verbena bonariensis, marigolds, roses already in flower but have blank spaces. On their way are helianthemums and gazanias.

Anything looking particularly marvellous in yours this week?
We're in the west.

Lots of crocosmia flowering here (buttercup and lucifer) and pelargoniums (red and pink). Some lilies are still going strong As well as roses and kniphofia. I'm in the south west.

I recently bought a rather charming begonia 'Dark Elegance'. It's a lovely, strong mid-to-late summer performer.

Salvia Hotlips. Never heard of it but we bought a couple of little plants, stuck them in a border and they've been amazing. Grown into a really nice mound shape and flowered forever and very pretty pink and white flowers.

Salvias, yes, good thought. I need something around 2-3 foot high, they might do it.
There are tons of tulips in the borders and I need to plant perennials or we won't get the full display in spring.

Yes, salvia Hot Lips and (cliché or not) crocosmia Lucifer. Erysimum Bowles Mauve (flowers 11 months of the year). Hydrangea quercifolia is still flowering merrily, too.

Penstemon, several varieties, but 'Apple Blossom' is magnificent. Begonias and hydrangeas.

I came here to say crocosmia and salvia, but I see I have been beaten to it!

I have a delightful yellow Hippo Bag full of rubble. My MIL can't cope and keeps furiously weeding round it

My iberis are gorgeous and out of control

Dahlias, Cosmos, Echinaceas, Cleomes, Agapanthus, Ammi Majus, Hardy Geraniums, Perlagoniums, Heleniums, Perovskias, Verbena Bonariensis all looking good just now. Japanese Anemones, Eucomis, Crocosmias, Rudbeckias, Asters all gearing up to join the party a bit later on.

Cosmos in full pelt and yes Crocosmia Lucifer , penstemon, verbasum ( maybe too tall) , phlox , I should have shasta daisys , but the dratted slugs/snails have feasted on them Perovskia, (Russian sage) just getting going

Cosmos, hibiscus getting there and sweet william.
Unfortunately my hostas were eaten by the slugs and snails.
My fushias didn't survive the hot spell.

I am in Glasgow and think it is a variety of St Johns Wort which is flowering everywhere. Nice and bright

Nicotiana, pinks, star jasmine, Japanese anemones on their way, salvias

Hosta are just beginning to flower, hebe Nicola is in full bloom, marguerites are producing well, Jacobs ladder is at its peak, gladioli are just starting to flower, buddleia, honeysuckle and clematis are all flowering nicely - I'm actually amazed!!
Disclaimer: new to gardening and currently planting randomly to see what survives!

FunnyPerson the Dunkirk gardens are going well. It turns out that marigolds fare best in the conditions (cheeky fingers) but beans are also thriving.

Back to the UK garden. ..we already have crocosmia and I never plant it as it spreads - we have new gladioli and they are looking like they want to lie down so I'm keen on underplanting for next year.

Too many slugs here for cosmos or dahlias.

Enormous Japanese anemones opened today.

Potentillas looking good, and I have hollyhock envy after a trip to the parents' house today.

My yellow courgettes. I don't plant flowers, you can't eat them.

Hemerocallis are about to come into full flower. Also, all my annuals, particularly nasturtiums, calendula and some non-giant russet-coloured sunflowers (can't remember the species.) I've got tubs with tagetes and African marigolds, petunias, trailing lobelia (just beginning to be past its best), geraniums and the asters are about to start flowering. Sweet peas are doing well, too. Honeysuckle is still going, which fills the bathroom with wafts of scent through the open window.

And the giant bindweed, which I can't quite bear to pull out while it's flowering and before I uproot the bramble as far as I can, so I can get at the bindweed roots. Did I mention the nettles, which I'm keeping for the insects and not because I can't be arsed to get the gardening gloves to yank them out.

Front garden is mostly filled with lavender, which gets bashed whenever I go in and out, and smells great - it's covered in honey bees, too.

Umm. That reminds me that my potentillas have disappeared. Must rummage in the bed to see whether they've simply been swamped. Sweet peas have been a dead loss this year, but the agapanthus that was useless last year is now flowering quite nicely.

My sweet peas have been rubbish this year. I used to grow almost show quality ones. Admittedly in a different garden, but still...

Off to the garden centre tomorrow to see if I can find any salvias.
I don't normally buy things mid season but it's for a client's garden and they like instant impact.

Definitely thinking abut hollyhocks for next year. How do you deal with the rust? Got any resistant varieties or do you just underplant?
