Morrisons have their bulbs in too. I bought the large £3 bags of mixed tulips and daffs plus £2 bags of sherbert and purple-black tulips last year. They all did brilliantly.

I've purchased some snowdrops and alliuns this time!

Will have a nosy at J Parker soon, Shove!

HaveYouSeenHerLately · 30/08/2015 03:09

On Thursday Aldi have packs of 6 mixed autumn container plants for 3.99, packs of (10?) autumn bedding plugs for 1.99 and packs of 50 daff bulbs for 2.49.

Also various woodstore tools and accessories plus wine WinkWine

I just came across this weird Parkers wholesale site: www.dutchbulbs.co.uk/. I am going to try to place an order from there later on as I need lots and lots of crocuses (300!) for a feature, and they seem cheaper here than anywhere else I've seen. Will report back if it works!

shovetheholly · 06/09/2015 14:21

Aldi have packs of bedding plants for autumn - £3.99 for 6, includes a purple heuchera, a cyclamen as well as the usual suspects (viola, ivy).

They also have shredders and log splitters in!

OP posts:
Callmegeoff · 06/09/2015 15:52

I bought those packs last Autumn, they never really got going till the spring. The cyclamen died but the Heuchera did very well and are now in my borders.

bookbook · 07/10/2015 22:11

if anyone is still looking for seeds, I have been in Wilkos today, and all their seeds are marked down -they start at 10p

shovetheholly · 08/10/2015 08:36

Aldi had packs of purple heuchera when I went in - six for just over £3 if I remember rightly. They're not the most bluey-purple one, nor very mottled, but the slightly more reddish purple plain ones. I would guess 'Palace Purple' but I'm no expert.

OP posts:
shovetheholly · 10/10/2015 15:29

Aldi currently have English-grown roses for £1.79 a pop (2 year old plants).

Also cyclamen (£1.99) and winter bedding (pansies, violas) £2.50.

Sorry for the absence!

Just wanted to report that Home Bargains have both solitary bee and butterfly houses in a lovely seagrass colour for the princely sum of £2.99!

I found them amongst the Christmas gift ranges, they're in the gardening one funnily enough Wink

I'm really pleased as I was going to ask for one for Christmas, the ones I'd found online weren't cheap. By then it would be too late to be of benefit this winter.

On that note I bought some whimsical gardening gifts for a family member from the same HB range the other year and they were very well received. Things like enamel mugs, enamel twine tin and cutter, kneeler, retro signs etc.

Poundland website has bee logs for...£1 Grin but I don't have a shop nearby. They're just logs with holes drilled in and a bit of twine to hang them, the kind of thing you could do yourself if you were so inclined, but every little helps!

Gosh I was the last person to post back in October!

Just reporting that Morrisons have some nice plants starting to filter in. Also late spring/ summer bulbs for £2 a pack.

From tomorrow Aldi have fruit trees (£3.49) - 2-year-old grafted trees. Height range 1.2-1.8m. Choose from Apple, Pear, Cherry, Plum or Raspberry in a range of varieties.

  • 4pk spring bulbs £2.49 - Add a touch of instant spring colour with these ready-to-flower spring bulb pots. Choose from Tulip Pinocchio, Muscari, Hyacinth or Dwarf Narcissus Tête a Tête.
  • Italian herbs in terracotta pots - Quality culinary herbs in an attractive 14cm terracotta pot in a choice of 2 styles. Choose from Mint, Oregano, Parsley, Sage, Lavender, Thyme or Rosemary.

I think there's a gardening event coming up either next week or the week after so will update then.

shovetheholly · 03/02/2016 15:14

Thanks so much - have been looking at Aldi's website, but I totally missed this!!

I went to Poundland yesterday and bought loads of peat pots (48 for £1), seed trays with modules (3 for £1) onion setts and six-packs of seed - all a quid. They have scoops, soaker hoses, twine and some godawful ornaments too. Grin

HaveYouSeenHerLately · 03/02/2016 19:13

Hi shove!

Ah, the Poundland ornament selection Wink
Have you been in B&M garden zone? It's like poundland on acid Grin

That's reminded me to check whether our crummy 99p stores has converted into a Poundland (my preferred el cheapo gardening range) or closed down since the takeover, thanks!

shovetheholly · 04/02/2016 08:02

Oh, oh, oh we soooooooo need a new thread for the most hideous garden ornaments ever created. Grin

Heads to B&M with camera

shovetheholly · 11/02/2016 11:18

I've banged on about this in other threads, but Secret Gardening Club are brill. You can become a plant pass holder for just over £10 a year and get access to amazing plant offers. The great thing is that the selection nearly always includes something a bit different from the things you usually see in the discounters etc. I've had 3 orders from them so far and all the plants have been strong.

I just bought 3 x Calamagrostis brachytricha, 3 x Primula japonica 'Millers Crimson', 3 x Primula denticulata 'alba', and 3 x Thalictrum delavayi 'Album'. For £13.50 - that's delivered.

gingeroots · 11/02/2016 11:53
