Thank you SO much for saying that !! I know it’s a cliche, but it really is true “problem shared…” or, whatever the relevant one is! The feeling that you’re bit alone! Your friends son sounds so similar! He’s very much like that. I overheard him talking the other day, saying his big regret in life is “ dating someone during my GCSE’s and wasting a bunch of time “….. It really upset me to hear. It was a fleeting “ met online” then in person with, girl, who frankly, well, she had zero motivation, was quite rude to me, was home schooled, wasn’t taking any GCSE’s ( nor planned to) and awful timing to come across my easily distracted ND DS.
Maybe there is something in the knowledge he can retake. I have a friend whose son isovsky, but, again, not the best academic (but is fabulous as his hobby!), and he had a nightmare in his Maths resit in November. Went down to a 2. He’s pretty much “ Yeh, whatevs” this time round. I do fear for my DS as he was “ only” 9 points off last time. He got results from a past Q5 today., got 22/40 ( I think that’s a good 5, maybe 6?) which is amazing for him, so I hope that’s given him a boost! He was told list marks on punctuation and “ needed more people in the story !”.
That is a really good point you make! He has been getting good results in his assignments and is student rep ( I think it’s more that everyone refused, but he did “ take one for the team”!), and, more importantly is out of his bullying school, so that is an achievement in itself!!!
Anyway, what date is yours?! How is everything else? 😻
