Oh no Piggy, what a rough time you are having. I hope you feel better soon.

Piggywaspushed · 07/08/2021 09:58

Feeling mainly sick. Temperature is fine. Lots of coughing last night but stopped now.

AnneOfCleavage · 07/08/2021 10:07

Oh no, so sorry to hear that Piggy Sad Get well soon Thanks

Glad the holiday went well Ican but not so good on the mess back home. You're a better woman than me for sorting it all out for your DS's.

Also glad you're all negative ahead of your DS's camp crazycrofter. I also wonder if the grades will change from letters to numbers soon and I really hope our DC will not be disadvantaged next year by inflated grades this year.

DD has had her 2nd vaccine now - phew! Feeling tired and sore of arm and complaining of tummy pains - doesn't seem to be a common symptom that I can see. Lots of her friends are getting vaccinated so hopefully this Sept will seem safer going back to school although not all go to her school.

Monkey2001 · 07/08/2021 10:34

Oh no Piggy, sending BrewCakeFlowers. Hope your men are looking after you.

@icanbewhatiwant my DSs came back from Cornwall 3 nights before us and we came back to a very messy kitchen too - a few plates had made it into the dishwasher, but baking trays, pans, packaging all over the place. I don't know how DS1 will cope when he moves out of hall!

@crazycrofter phew! Cinderella will go to the ball!

ExtremelyDisorganised · 07/08/2021 10:36

Sorry to hear you're +ve Piggy hope you start feeling better soon.

I'm hearing of 17yos getting jabbed now too.

DS and I spent a relaxing half hour looking at all his possible uni choice on google earth, its a good way of getting a feel for size, location relative to towns, amount of green space etc.

Heifer · 07/08/2021 10:37

DD has a headache, feels really sick, temp 38 and just found out her friends boyfriend who she was with Wednesday night as tested positive....

Booked her in for a PCR test, DH has his first free weekend for years and was going fishing, and buying stuff for DIY, now we can't leave the house (apart from taking DD to test) untl she gets results back. He has just gone full time self employed too..

What are peoples experience of how long it takes to get results?

BlueMarigold · 07/08/2021 10:48

I joined Mumsnet a year ago just so I could follow this thread.

EwwSprouts · 07/08/2021 10:48

Piggy Hope you recover quickly. Miserable weather to match your mood.

Heifer Oh dear and fingers crossed it's a different bug.
I took DS for a PCR on a Saturday lunchtime and the result was back first thing Sunday morning (month ago).

Monkey2001 · 07/08/2021 10:52

@Heifer has she done a LFT? If that is negative I think your DH might be able to go out. Our tests have been between 12-24 hours.

Heifer · 07/08/2021 11:01

Thanks @EwwSprouts & @Monkey2001. Yes DD did a LFT first thing as was negative. I thought because she has "symptoms" although I don't think 38 is very high temp, and no cough etc, but also as she has been in contact with someone who has, I thought that meant we had to stay in?
It's hard isn't is, DH is so disapointed. He could go fishing I guess really as it's outside and won't see anyone, but needs to go and buy some bait...

EwwSprouts · 07/08/2021 11:10

Heifer Anecdotally, amongst DS and friends the LFT was slow to confirm covid. DS got it from a boy in school who sat coughing in lessons however said boy had done negative tests the night before and that same morning.

Heifer · 07/08/2021 11:23

Those isolating who have dogs - what did you do?

Orangecinnamon21 · 07/08/2021 11:59

Hello @BlueMarigold!

@Piggywaspushed get well soon Flowers I hope symptoms aren't too bad.

Dd has a Lloyds account currently so will use that for her application next year. We already get heavily discounted rail and she is unlikely to need large overdrafts, so the selection of account may be based on how good the other freebies are. Let me know if any of your kids have had good freebies. Her favourite things are takeaways, music/musical theatre, makeup etc also crystals (or anything witchy woo) but I don't think you trnd to get free chunks of amethyst with bank account.

New thread soon...any title ideas?

Thanks @Orangecinnamon21

How about university uncertainty or exam exhaustion

Piggywaspushed · 07/08/2021 12:31

Am perking up. Will probably be temporary. Worst symptoms terrible nausea and headache, so no food has passed my lips (earliest sign both time I have had this sodding thing is the dreads and no desire to eat). Stupidly took cyclizine when I have buccastem in the house which is much better and can't combine them.

Just to mention I took 4 LFTs in previous days, including on the day of my PCR : all negative!

DSs both seem to have recovered.

Piggywaspushed · 07/08/2021 12:32

heifer hope your DD is OK. My results were back within 17 hrs. DS were 13 hours.

ealingwestmum · 07/08/2021 13:14

So sorry to hear many of you and your families going down with covid; hoping speedy recoveries with the adding of more antibodies for the pain!

Hello BlueMarigold, welcome to the soon to be Y13s and everything else we throw in thread Smile

Orangecinnamon21 · 07/08/2021 13:20

I might have to change my name to orangecinnamoncocktail as everytime I indulge, my posts suffer and turn into nonsense. Apologise for above..here is a nice photo of a cocktail indulged in yesterday. Out with my sisters yesterday in London. The bar we were in during the day was very 'young' but we all had a great time. Here is a Peach Martini to help this suffering get better soon.

I must have so many antibodies. Had this twice and two jabs. Lucky me.

Seeline · 07/08/2021 14:04

Hope you're feeling better soon Piggy.

Fingers crossed Heifer for a negative.

DD and I planning a little road trip to Birmingham and Nottingham next week. Just to explore the campus and city in case we can't make open days. Any tips gratefully received 😁

BlueMarigold · 07/08/2021 14:12

We went to see Birmingham. Got the train to the city from the uni

stoneysongs · 07/08/2021 14:58

Nottingham have a self guided tour of the campus on their website, I think.

ealingwestmum · 07/08/2021 15:45

I’m not a huge drinker Orange but your cocktail photos always look lush!

Oblomov21 · 07/08/2021 16:50

Good wishes to Piggy and Heifer.

Yum to Cocktail Orange. Love a good cocktail me.

icanbewhatiwant · 07/08/2021 18:38

@Heifer yes I wondered about dogs. If someone tests positive can someone else in the house get up at the crack of dawn when no one is about to walk them? It's straight on to footpaths here. I wouldn't see anyone.
