OYBK
Her well being is good she is strong and I think given she’s faced similar events before it hasn’t shook her up as much as it would others
It’s just a night time she’s a little tense and nervous but overall her well-being is good. Hopefully the police will listen soon

It's 12 and I have so far only managed to walk dog and sit in the sunshine. It is blazing hot down South. The tulips are racing to tell me what colours I've planted in different places, as I've completely forgotten - it will either be bubblegum or something tastefully pallid.

Dd is trying to go on a Nepal trip with her school after A levels, she has to fund raise "a lot"to go, has anyone heard good things about these sort of trips - I think it is a "my friends are going" situation rather than any interest in travel. I don't want her to go really, I feel fund raising will clash with A levels.

We heard from ds recently. He said he occasionally felt OMG how I am going to get through the next 24 hours (deadlines, social stuff) but then he lay down on his bed, breathed deeply and then just tried to do just that...get through the next 24 hours...It is the first time he has confessed to being a bit overwhelmed sometimes. He also has a habit of ringing to tell us tiny details of incredible tedium, like how he found he was allowed to wear a white teeshirt instead of white shirt with collar for some concert..Confused and how he had purchased one from Primark. Perhaps the best thing is to pretend this is fascinating, when really I want to hear who he is friends with Shock

Fantasy London is a big place, and there will always be lots of different people to meet and frightening situations, I hope she meets some nice groups soon and the police can reassure, even if the stolen stuff isn't found..

oh dear, very frustrating day, despite the sunshine. Felt v v tired, and dog walk ended him lying down on the pavement and trying to lick his way home on various bits of chewing gum (deadly poison to dogs) ended up carrying him home...ds2 arrived home wearing a bright blue suit as he has tried to get some "role" in school, looking a bit like an out of work Tom Jones. Dog has conked out now in his crate..surrounded by shredded loo rolls (outside crate)

I'm missing ds1 suddenly!!! he is slightly less work than the puppy!

Nettleskeins · 29/03/2019 18:31

London is really a nasty grimy place at its worse -depressed by city pavements

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/03/2019 19:21

It's odd having dd back at her desk at home, working away, it feels like she never left.

Aw it must be lovely. Dd is coming home tomorrow but going back on Sunday night. Doesn’t finish till next Friday.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/03/2019 20:10

I hope she remembers to treat you!

Ha ha ha. I’ve told get not to bother bad it would be my money.

I’ve asked her to sort out her room whilst I’m out at a party on Saturday afternoon.

Not holding my breath.

UrsulaPandress · 29/03/2019 20:36

Autocorrect is my bloody nemesis at the moment.

Knotaknitter · 29/03/2019 22:49

My phone corrected "maybe" to "aubergine" earlier tonight.

A family member corrected me twice in five minutes over term dates, their child is home now for four weeks, mine has two weeks to go to a two week holiday. Clearly I am wrong, know nothing, can't read a calendar. At least autocorrect is trying to be helpful and doesn't get huffy when you decline its suggestions.

marmiteloversunite · 30/03/2019 06:35

A week today I go up to see DD in her uni opera. She is in the chorus as a first year but is excited. The Saturday night is a black tie gala with Prosecco etc. DH isn't that impressed at dressing up as he is a shirt and jeans kind of fella! It will be my first visit to see her because of all of the cancer rubbish. I am a third of the way through radiotherapy so hope I won't be super tired next Saturday.

Anyway I am just rambling now. Just can't wait to see her doing something she loves!

Hope you all have a nice Mother's Day weekend, even if they are far away!

UrsulaPandress · 30/03/2019 06:39

That sounds fabulous marmite.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/03/2019 08:22

That will be amazing Marmite! You are going to be so very proud :)

How is the radiotherapy going?

marmiteloversunite · 30/03/2019 08:31

It's fine. Have to go every working day for three weeks. Most annoying bit is the hospital parking! I expect my skin will get sore and I will get tired but much easier than chemo!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/03/2019 08:38

I'm glad it's much easier than chemo :) Hospital parking though, ugh! Do you have to pay the full amount to park?

Good luck with the radiotherapy marmite. I hope it finishes the bastard cancer off for good Flowers.

On a totally different subject - I have a question. I know that electrical items have to be PAT tested. Can DD take a hairdryer to university? I know that students will want to charge phones and laptops, so how do they get round that? Actually, that was 2 questions Grin

UrsulaPandress · 30/03/2019 08:51

I may have mentioned before but my local hospital has a designated barrier controlled car park for the Cancer unit. The difference it made to my radiotherapy experience cannot be over stated.

UrsulaPandress · 30/03/2019 08:57

Tapas Hairdryers and chargers etc are fine. As are printers. Don't ask me why the difference.

UrsulaPandress · 30/03/2019 09:00

I didn't get tired or sore from radiotherapy. I had four weeks worth. It was quite a fascinating experience with delightful staff.

Knotaknitter · 30/03/2019 09:51

Electrical items have to be PAT tested according to the accommodation paperwork but so far they've not arranged any testing (some places do this for a small charge) or checked whether anything is tested.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 30/03/2019 12:48

marmite enjoy the opera and I hope the rest of the radiotherapy isn't too taxing.

We went up to see dd for her birthday last weekend and to check on my mum. Mum is doing fine. Dd is struggling a bit health wise but is still enjoying her course.
She is coming home next weekend but only for two weeks, only one of which will overlap with ds.

littledrummergirl · 30/03/2019 14:09

Tapas, Flowers. Ds1 came home last weekend for a couple of weeks to do some work experience. He's using us as a base to save money but will be going up to Yorkshire then to do lambing.
Ds2 finally joined the army so he is now away training. He seems so happy, it's fantastic to see.
Dh and Ds1 are away this weekend, they've gone to see dh mum today and then are going to Wembley tomorrow for a football match. Dd and I have some chic flicks ready, face masks and wine (for me) and are planning some time to spoil ourselves.

captainoftheshipwreck · 30/03/2019 18:12

knotaknitter - imagine a teen autocorrect, complete with rolling eyes Confused

Hardwickwhite · 02/04/2019 18:51

DD is coming "home" this weekend for two weeks. I put home in inverted commas, because we're actually going up to her uni town for the middle section of it. It was booked and accommodation paid for while she was intending to stay there over Easter and study (as her flat mates for next year are doing) so that we could visit her. However, she changed her mind when her home friends arranged a big get together, so now she is home for the weekend, up there for a long weekend, then back here for bank holiday weekend. We are just desperate to see her in the flesh. She had a big piece of work to hand in this week, and on FaceTime looked more and more drawn and anxious every time we saw her. She has been spending a lot of time in her room too, which is always a worry. I think she is eating, but she is definitely loosing weight. I know when she is eating, quite often it is on her own, because her friends are out or away, and the rest of the people in her block are 'full of drama'. It's daft to worry about something like that, but family meal times are so nice, and I hate for her to be missing out! She is also not eating much that is green, but that is something we can laugh about at least!

Nettleskeins · 02/04/2019 21:53

I had a nice chatty phone call from ds1, full of enthusiasm and cheer and high spirits. Then he started talking about applying to be a film extra (he is not studying film or English Lit, or even Drama) in June and I realised he is really not doing enough for his actual course...or at least not really using any of the opportunities available to go to classical recitals etc. I challenged him on this, and he admitted he wasn't..I got quite irate and said I wasn't going to listen to any more of his schemes unless he could do the basics that he was paying vast amounts at uni for Sad..so one step forward, two steps back.

I suspect he quite often sits in his room Hardwick - I think there is a lot of bravado involved. There is nothing wrong with sitting in your room, unless the reasons are that you are "avoiding" something delibarately.
