Great flatmouse! It is so nice to come home and find that they have done something responsible. DD1 did the washing/drying and folded it as well as registration for uni today.

We took the dog for a lovely walk by the river and had tea and cake. Trying to fit nice things in with her. We are going to the cinema tomorrow.

Knittinganewme · 05/09/2018 17:38

Big hugs Marmite I am not a huggy person so they are scarce. Does the overnight thing depend on who is there to support you at home?

Flatmouse I thought there that your DS might be the missing flatmate that I keep asking about. DS is in flat E so that implies that there are at least five of them but so far there are only four names in the frame. Who is number five?

marmiteloversunite · 05/09/2018 17:49

Thank you knitting! Yes I think it depends on support. I was just flummoxed that I got to decide!

Bakeandyarn · 05/09/2018 17:52

We are still waiting to have accommodation confirmed too, the angst of whether it will be en suite (most likely) or (his dread) a shared bathroom. That seems to have been his friends’ biggest worry too, his gf says she will be moving if she has to share! On the plus side he has joined a fb group for his “family”.

Bakeandyarn · 05/09/2018 17:54

nettle that’s a fab history result! Is he doing history a level?

Nettleskeins · 05/09/2018 18:03

Ds1 has been incredibly annoying today again. Hmm He seems to do nothing at all, very slowly.
dd is in meltdown mood because ds1 used her toothpaste Shock completely disproprortionate reaction. It has taken two hours to calm down the escalation. She is now completely overtired after travelling to Sixth form induction etc, hanging around. now officially hates her Sixth Form and everyone, including me. I broke her bamboo toothbrush in half after she threw it at me and swore at me..

Ds2 is now hunky dory..and being very polite.

Nettleskeins · 05/09/2018 18:07

next door's seven year old also seems to be having a meltdown after a day back at school. At least mine aren't seven although they sometimes eem like it!

Dh has taken dd to buy a new bamboo toothbrush. on Parallel track I have just been out and bought three new packets of toothpaste, 4 new toothbrushes and some hair gel.

Personally, I cannot wait for ds1 to share a bathroom ELSEWHERE.

Nettleskeins · 05/09/2018 18:08

bake yes. very enthusiastic about it.

Bakeandyarn · 05/09/2018 18:19

nettle has he got any ideas on university yet? DS is a history buff, and is off to do history in October.

Nettleskeins · 05/09/2018 19:00

no, no ideas about university yet.

HardwickWhite · 05/09/2018 19:06

DD1 has been foul to DD2 today. She only has two more days at home now and I really want them to be sweetness and light. Bloody teenagers. I suspect she’s getting anxious now about it all, but do wish she would just be nicer about it!

littledrummergirl · 05/09/2018 19:41

We've had the being vile to everyone, Ds1 has come through it and is now being lovely. He's actually spent time playing on the xbox with dd.

Thankfully no gcse thread for me this year as dd has only gone into year 9 and Ds2 is now yr12.

Downeyhouse · 05/09/2018 21:25

Wishing you all the best for your op marmite. Had not heard of knitted knockers either.

Back from the IKEA run.

Ds enjoyed choosing stuff and tonight had asked me «start training» him. Up until now he has scoffed when I have tried to suggest loo cleaning and clothes washing lessons.

Ds 2 is at his dads for a few days before school starts so it is just ds and I and it is bliss. Am going to treasure these last 2 weeks.

chocolateworshipper · 05/09/2018 21:47

marmite big hugs and Flowers to you

I have some great news! I could post on the GCSE thread, but don't really feel at home there yet ..... DD2 did a GCSE exam a year early and got the highest marks in her year group! She is not the most academic of children, so this really is an exceptional result for her, and is the result of her working very hard for it and also doing related voluntary work that helped her learn. Am so unbelievably proud of her.

MrSlant · 05/09/2018 21:52

marmite how odd that you get to make the choice! I'm very sure that if you ask to be a day case they won't let you go home if you aren't ready for it. I wonder if you ask to stay you could just be discharged at the time if you feel well enough or you'll just end up being later on the list making it a moot point. When I had my op earlier this year the surgeon insisted I stay overnight in case of complications because I lived so far from the hospital. I was in a short stay surgical unit and could sing their praises for days, actually looking forward to my op next year because it was so lovely. That probably says more about life at home with my boys more than anything! Anyway, not being a hugger have a manly punch (gentle version) to the shoulder, I hope everything goes really well.

Back to school boys are happy, DS2 very pleased because he's been accepted to do further maths as they were very particular this year about who got on the course. DS3 seems to be loving 'big school' but is very over dramatic and touchy.

nettles DS1 was allowed a computer in a separate room for all his exams, not sure how helpful this was because although he has appalling handwriting his main issue is processing speed (his not the computers!) and it still takes an age for an idea to make it's way from his brain to the page.

DS is driving me crazy being soooooo laid back, how he will do at uni without his magic 'nag-mum' I have no idea, fingers crossed he will surprise us all although experience tells me not to get my hopes up. Oh boy, so wish I could move to uni with him!

MrSlant · 05/09/2018 21:54

Wow chocolate, massive well done to your dd, that should be a confidence boost and a half, not surprised that you are feeling very proud.

TheThirdOfHerName · 05/09/2018 22:04

chocolateworshipper that's excellent news!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/09/2018 22:04

That's good marmite :)

Wow chocolate. Well done to your dd!

Chocolate that is amazing! (I am sure we will settle into the GCSE thread soon!)

Thank you for the manly shoulder punch, hugs and Thanks!

I think I might have gone a little mad. Every other advert on tv seems to be about cancer at the moment, so I have taken to shouting "F... off cancer!" at the tv. This is much to my DCs amusement as I am not normally one who swears! Feel free to join in when you see these adverts! Grin

Lily125 · 05/09/2018 22:40

Shanghai and anyone else with young people off to Warwick, accommodation is coming through now.

UrsulaPandress · 05/09/2018 22:47

I turn them off. I cannot be doing with all the fighting and the battling. And don't get me started on the FB shit.

marmiteloversunite · 05/09/2018 22:50

Ursula Grin Try the shouting as you turn off, it's very cathartic!

UrsulaPandress · 05/09/2018 22:51

I am not a shouty person. LIES LIES LIES

marmiteloversunite · 05/09/2018 22:57

Neither am I! That's why my girls think it's hilarious!

starfleet · 05/09/2018 23:00

Hope all goes well with your op marmite Thanks

Well done to your DD chocolate that's brilliant!

I have seen DS for a total of an hour tonight - he'd already left for work when I got home and he only got back an hour and half ago.

He is being an arse.

Trying to set up accommodation payment plan which isn't working so told him he has to ring someone in the morning and also has to ring student services as he can't complete one part of the online registration. He has no sense of urgency - he leaves in just over a week and doesn't seem to be too concerned that stuff still needs doing. Give me strength!
