Stuck on the CWDC workbook.

I am in desperate need of help. I have tried to do it on my own but I am running out of time. My SSW doesn't even understand the question I'm on now. It's 5.6 understanding contexts. I have only two weeks to finish it now and I really need to have a look at some examples of answers to the remaining questions so I have an idea of what is expected of me. If anyone can show me some examples or help in any way, I will be extremely thankful. I promise I won't copy your answers, I just need an example to get myself going.

We never put in any personal details while doing the CWDC.
Most of our carers and LA thought the whole process a waste of time and we worked together in groups to complete it , we often just copied each other responses to the vague, ambiguous poorly constructed questions.

Hmm, the two documents I have seen both contained lots of details of the children in the FCs care - specific examples of how the FC helped child x to do XYZ....all very detailed. My standards followed this example, because thats what I was advised. SOme sections are so generic as to have a stock answer, but others require details.

I was told that the document was meant to be reflective of your own practice, and allow you to consider what had gone right/wrong in placements you have had.

In our LA, it is read by senior staff who also sit in on your 1 year approval panel, so they have a full picture of whats been happening to you in that year.

I guess different LAs are different - which rather makes a mockery of the "standards".

Our LA and Carers agreed it was little more than a tick box exercise and did nothing to help them with their jobs.

If you download the guidance (PDF link above) there are really clear prompts for every standard.
Under each standard the guidance lists "evidence requirements" and if you answer every one of these questions or tasks you will cover everything.

It needn't be more than a paragraph for each one. I advise all carers to give a specific example for as many of these as possible (how they did this with their foster child - it is after all meant to be a personal reflection on practice).

Also write in each section any relevant training you've attended for that standard.

Hi, I'm just about to start my TSD STANDARDS and feel overwhelmed every time I open it. I just wondered if there is anyone who would like to work together on it if they're just starting too. I'm in Kent and it would be great to be in contact with other new carers if anyone else is in the same boat! I appreciate they have to be personal to our child but 2 heads are better than 1 getting started.

We didn't have to write examples or really answer many questions for ours just evidence it.

So like putting in the minutes from a cic review covers working with others, keeping children safe and a whole load of other standards like 2.1b. You ssw supervision notes cover things like record keeping, maybe dealing with behaviour if they have written about that also covers 2.1c.

2.3a understand the importance of family and friends is covered by a working with birth families training certificate. It's less about answers and more about providing evidence that you can do it real terms.

i would be grateful to see any completed cwdc books just so stuck :(
