I eould say no YANBU.
I did once tell my Dh's Station commander what I thought and he burst into tears.

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 13:37

really, that's great flossie! What did you think of him?

Sidge · 29/04/2008 13:38

Go for your life

And tell us what the dit is so we can slag him off too!

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 13:43

He didn't do anything, he just annoys me. He is a charicature of an Army Officer. He slates the RAF and Navy at every opportunity, don't get me wrong I am always up for a bit of banter, but he just goes too far and he's starting to piss me off!

I thought he put himself in a situation that he was not emotionally able to deal with at that time and he should have known better.
i felt a little bad for upsetting him, but he chose to come to a dining in night after a private upset ,so put himself in the firing line if anything went wrong that night , which it did.
I must say he did call my DH in after the weekend ,to apologise to me , but I said I don't do apologies by proxy .
he then came up to me outside a shop and tried again in person ,which graciously accepted

What does he actually say? I am intrigued! What rank is he?

scaryteacher · 29/04/2008 15:01

When dh's black tube came home from an unexpected excursion which started on a Christmas eve with little warning, Flag Officer Submarines oozed up to the CO's wife and tried to introduce himself by saying 'I'm the one who sent the boat to sea'. Mrs C.O. was a newly wed feisty business woman, over 30, and wasn't used to how the Navy works, so she threatened to push him off the dock and into the sea as he was the 'arsehole' who ruined her Christmas! Cue lots of smirks and laughs from the wives, as the squadron officers hastily removed the admiral from her vicinity!

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 16:25

He is a Major!

McDreamy - Go for it! He just has a chip on his shoulder obviously .
YANBU.

hf128219 · 29/04/2008 16:56

I wouldn't call a buckshee Major a senior Army Officer - they are ten a penny!

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 17:08

Yes I know what you mean but they are classed as senior, kind of a junior senior officer , still a jerk!!!!

OP posts:
hf128219 · 29/04/2008 17:18

Tell me! What does he actually say to you?? And if he thinks he is so senior why is he at the bus stop?!

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 17:21

He was just meeting his son from the bus so we can't knock him for that!

OP posts:
hf128219 · 29/04/2008 17:24

OK, that is allowed! So what can we knock him for then?

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 17:27

He just slates the other services at every opportunity. He doesn't see the role of the other services is of any great importance and just generally goes on and on and on, bit of a drone!

So what about the support the RAF supply in Afghanistan etc with lifting the wounded, air support for ground troops, delivering freight etc. The Royal Navy also provide various other forms of support in Iraq.

How old is he?

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 17:38

Hmmm mid to late 30s maybe?

hf128219 · 29/04/2008 17:41

Anybody who is any cop in the Army will have been promoted to Lt Col by age 40. Maybe he's having an early mid-life crises?

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 17:43

yes maybe

hf128219 · 29/04/2008 17:46

Or is just a first class plonker? So what are you going to say to him next time you see him??

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 17:50

Not sure, I thought about inviting them round for dinner (she's quite nice) and just taking the piss out of him all night - is that too harsh?

OP posts:
hf128219 · 29/04/2008 17:56

Good idea! Ply him with stiff G&T's, wine and single malt and give him the biggest hangover of his life. He will be so plastered he won't remember a thing and will be very coy the next time you see him.

Also read up on some highbrow issue and ask his opinion on it.

McDreamy · 29/04/2008 17:58

Do you speak from experience ? 5 like the way you are thinking!
