its flippin door frames in my house, every one is cracked away from the wall. i called and all they did was come out and hammer loads of nails into them

on the plus side after calling up every week for months about my carpet they are giving me a new one just to shut me up

McDreamy · 24/03/2008 14:03

Maybe I should try that kerryk

Are these married quarters?

beaniesteve · 24/03/2008 14:05

Stop paying your rent?

McDreamy · 24/03/2008 14:06

Yes they are mqs and you can't stop paying rent. It doesn't work like that!!!

OP posts:
beaniesteve · 24/03/2008 14:07

oh - is it free?

McDreamy · 24/03/2008 14:07

I wish - no it is not free but the rent comes directly out of DH's wages.

Upsadaisy · 24/03/2008 14:08

Used to live in married quarters and found the only result was to pester!!! the living daylights out of them.

I hated it but it worked.

Where abouts in the country are you?

McDreamy · 24/03/2008 14:09

I'm not I'm abroad.....we get the 2 shouldered shrug out here when we go in and report anything

Oh the joys of Cyprus living McDreamy .
You are in the final straight though, remember that. The cockroaches are the worst bit.
Sorry about your head though. That is bad .
Not long now, and they won't do anything about it over there...........

McDreamy · 24/03/2008 14:12

I know I know...........I can't wait - although I will miss the weather out here....but not my house

OP posts:
VanillaPumpkin · 24/03/2008 14:13

Oh and it took me 18mths to get my bathroom floor replaced that they had promised me would be done on move in, and I have given up on the curtains I should be getting . Our carpets are minging too and we are UK . I somehow didn't mind so much overseas but these floors depress me......

VanillaPumpkin · 24/03/2008 14:18

DH is applying to come back out there . We have no chance realistically but hey worth a shot....

McDreamy · 24/03/2008 14:19

Oh fingers crossed if it's what you want. When will you find out?

shoshe · 24/03/2008 14:26

We are on one of the major refurb camps, The reefurbs started in October, the first people were suppose to move into the first finished ones in Decemeber ............ They moved in this week.

We wee suppose to move about now, we have no idea when we will move.

On the plus have seen the show house which is nt bad, but for some reason they have taken away half the kitchen cupboards.....they idea was to give more storage????????????

purpleduck · 24/03/2008 14:29

DH is out now, and I know what you mean.
One quarter we lived in had a bunch of cats*it in the cupboard - they just pulled a bit of carpet over it. Then when we moved out, dh got a bollocking for a loose screw on the gate!!

Grrr!!! I think the worse bit is the lack of control.

McDreamy · 24/03/2008 14:30

eewww pd that's grim

OP posts:
VanillaPumpkin · 25/03/2008 09:06

McDreamy - Oh the jobs don't come up until Nov and Feb, but he has already told me of his intentions .
PD that is grim.....
Shoshe - You will be posted again before they are ready

shoshe · 25/03/2008 09:16

Nope VP this is our last posting DH was due out Sept 09, but has been offered the two year extension till sept11 in the same job, so we will be here

McDreamy · 25/03/2008 09:18

Are you keen to come back then VP? I think I've done my time although I do realise that I am going to miss it ALOT when I get back to the UK!!

OP posts:
VanillaPumpkin · 25/03/2008 09:52

Shoshe - Oooh that is almost stability you have there

McDreamy - Oh I was def ready to come back when we did. However it still took me months to get back into UK living, but a big part of that was a posting somewhere we didn't expect or want to be.
I would def enjoy another Cyprus tour. The children were babies when I was there so it will be quite a different sort of tour I think, alot more beach time and holidays as they will both be school /pre=school age so a different sort of routine iykwim. On the other hand I would not be that bothered if we didn't get it as we have had our chance. It is this time or never though as I want to do my PGCE in three years and would delay it a bit but not forever iyswim

shoshe · 25/03/2008 10:49

VP we have already been here 7 years!

DH is with the Royal Signals white Helmets Cadre, so we havnt moved since the WH moved here.

VanillaPumpkin · 25/03/2008 11:05

That is stability. I hope they hurry up for you then .

shoshe · 25/03/2008 14:00

Yep about time tho, this was the 32nd home in 48 years of being a RAF daughter and a Army wife

VanillaPumpkin · 25/03/2008 20:06

blimey. You have done your time .
