POLICE PAY CUTS

This morning the govt have said police will face "pay cuts"

I suspect this is a harsh statement clearing the way for something less serious

Police pay is complex with overtime and much sick leave.

In my experience the police usually win their battles with governments.

To put some bones on it a newly qualified PC gets between 23 and 25 grand a year..with extras.

Perhaps more than a nurse or teacher for starters. cheers "Gabby"

Point taken Med about MOD...

Anniel thanks for that well meaning point; but I am debating the political aspects of the current police CUTS story, which I suspect is getting a lot of press attention today. (thurs)

I may well be better writing about in an editorial in the Exchange & Mart. (Thats a joke)

I dont normally do advertising, so as the BBC would say "Other selling magazines are available."

And so you should, Anniel. Good intentions can seem a little intrusive. Meaning well can go wrong.

after all I raised the points on the serious issue of policing. If people dont wish to discuss it that is their choice. Just as I have the choice to raise it.

Penquin If you go into any police force it is a serious business. At the top end you take away peoples liberty. (That is not a smiley business.)

Off duty and half sloshed, I assume police officers are like the rest of us. Whooping it up

Authorority jobs are not everyones choice. But we will always need some kind of police force. "Gabby"

This isn't a particularly high traffic forum. More people are discussing this here.

Med....there is quantity and quality. I have seen threads which go to hundreds of posts and nothing new is said.

What we need here now is an experienced retired police officer who will tell us if he/or she has fallen in love with the the current Home Secretary.

The lady with the cardie of many colours in the Commons...who I rather like, but would not vote for.

I give up too.... but believe me there are lots of military police able to smile on duty -some even make you a cup of tea.

However, I still don't really understand why you are trying to push this here but to each their own. Maybe someone will pitch up soon you can have a debate with.
