Broccoli and sweetcorn

meltedmarsbars · 01/04/2010 17:47

Coleslaw. And beetroot chutney.
Contrasts well with the cheesy crusty top.

beer goes better with it than wine.

We had exactly that last night!

SoMuchToBits · 01/04/2010 17:47

Agree with broccoli and maybe some other veg, but also the Sauvignon Blanc is essential!

midnightexpress · 01/04/2010 17:56

Pickled beetroot. It's what my mum always served with it and it cuts through the creaminess of the sauce rather nicely.

I say salad or veg as if I actually cook it but tbh I can't rememmber ever cooking it!

BlueEyeshadow · 01/04/2010 18:47

We make it into more of a pasta bake with bacon, mushrooms, onions, garlic and usually brocoli or cauliflower.

cobysstepmummy · 02/04/2010 19:12

chips

or salad and garlic bread

i never make it as hubby hates mac n cheese

vesela · 03/04/2010 08:19

Tuna They go together pretty well...

tummytickler · 03/04/2010 08:48

another vote for brocolli, also cauliflour and usually sausages or gammon.

vesela - tuna , that sounds grim

vesela · 03/04/2010 09:15

in my humble defence it's the only time we eat it... (except when I scarf a tin of tuna and mayonnaise for lunch)

FalafelAtYourFeet · 03/04/2010 09:24

I usually include broccoli in it but if not, then broccoli. And loads of ketchup.

FalafelAtYourFeet · 03/04/2010 09:26

oh, I put peas in it too, and usually layer sliced tomatoes on top. I do like it with brispy bacon in but recently have been using it as our meat free friday meal for Lent so no bacon for now

FalafelAtYourFeet · 03/04/2010 09:27

crispy bacon

OTTMummA · 03/04/2010 11:08

bacon/sausage/garlic bread/ roasted tomatoes/brocolli - any green veg.
I make my mac n cheese with a little gorganzola in it which makes it a lot better.
and a pinch of mustard powder.

I love it, but only have it occasionaly as it is fatterrrnnninngggggg!
