I'm filling my basket online...

That'll be nothing then.

Gosh, I never thought shopping at Waitrose would be so cheap

The pack of 20 organic pork meatballs are a great hit around here
As is the box of salmon fillets (8 I think)

orienteerer · 29/03/2010 19:01

You must go and enjoy the ambience, wide aisles

JaynieB · 29/03/2010 19:02

Japanese soy sauce - really nice!

LowLevelWhinging · 29/03/2010 19:06

The Easy to Cook range is lurvly for when you're too busy/tired to put any thought into tea. Have tried the chicken kievs, roast pork and crackling, roast pork with rosemary and burgers with melty caramelised onion stuff on top. Yum.

Nice wines.

ChunkyPickle · 29/03/2010 19:07

Their essentials range is fantastic - I wouldn't buy flour and tinned tomatoes anywhere else anymore - it's just not worth it.

LowLevelWhinging · 29/03/2010 19:11

I'm thinking of more things...

Veal.
The corn fed chickens are gorgeous.
It's the only supermarket round here (well Ocado but same thing) that sells organic chicken thigh fillets for curries. Tesco/Asda/Sainsbury's only do on the bone here and that's a right PITA.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/03/2010 19:13

I love:

welsh cakes
pain au chocolate
crumpets
their fruit & veg is always good quality
cans of san pelegrino, either lemon or orange flavoured
naturecare nappies
chocolate covered flapjack

Clary · 29/03/2010 19:13

Belgian choc chip hot cross buns apparent;y (acc to another thread)

Disclaimer: No Waitrose here so no personal exp but they sound yummy!

IMoveTheStars · 29/03/2010 19:14

Our standard Waitrose perks include the #3 cheddar cheese, the free range eggs (nicest of the normal free range you can buy), and the sausages are lovely (usually 2 packs for £4.50)

The veg is usually very good, and often the same price or cheaper than sainsbury's, and lasts longer too (esp the tomatoes)

thighsmadeofcheddar · 29/03/2010 19:19

I like the savoury tart with bacon brie and cranberry. And the ham is very good.

boogeek · 29/03/2010 19:20

Custard! The vanilla one in a tub.

MrsJohnDeere · 29/03/2010 19:20

Pork spare ribs - far, far nicer than any I've bought at other supermarkets, the butchers or farmers' market.

Pork cheeks if you can get them (meat counter). Very cheap and make the most delicious casserole if cooked for hours.

Richly fruited hot cross buns (I think the chocolate ones are quite nasty, but I'm clearly in a minority).

Smoked salmon pate.

No 5 cheddar.

cocolepew · 29/03/2010 19:21

We still don't have one- in the whole country

Clarissimo · 29/03/2010 19:26

Lavender and geranium cupcake from the patisesrie

Yum

GetThePartyStarted · 29/03/2010 19:28

The frozen pain au chocolate are genius - £1.99 for 6 and you can just pop them in the oven for freshly baked pastry goodness. Mmmmmm.

Second the corn fed chickens, they are really tasty and the leftovers make fantastic stock.

The strawberry trifle is also really yummy.

ronx · 29/03/2010 19:30

Their Perfectly Ripe avocadoes. Other supermarkets may claim their avocadoes are 'ripe and ready' to eat, but they still feel like rocks.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 29/03/2010 19:31

rosemary and garlic salmon
Greens of Glastonbury cheddar
Cashel Blue
Waitrose Unscented Bath Foam
Waitrose Hummus
baguettes
Pain au chocolat

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/03/2010 19:35

Ooh yes the #3 cheddar is lovely for sandwiches and general munching. The #5 is what you want for a cheeseboard though IMO

yy to the brie and cranberry tart.

The scottish heather honey is delicious.

We like the lamb meatballs, they come in packs of 12. In fact all their meat is very good quality and I think very reasonably priced.

The whole Essentials range is fab, my cupboards, fridge and freezer are full of it.

chicaguapa · 29/03/2010 19:43

The packets of frozen 'fresh' herbs are a godsend in our house; parsley, garlic, chillis, chives, ginger, coriander. I was buying these fresh for a particular meal then not needing it again until it was too old so wasting the rest. Now I always use the frozen stuff.

I also love their essential coleslaw and
DH says the British Honey Roast ham is the nicest he's ever had, even from a deli counter. The high-juice squash is 50% juice compared to 40% in other shops and the essential crisps are really nice too.

I second other posts about the quality of the fruit and veg. It lasts longer than any other supermarket I know. But I get it from Ocado and don't know if that makes a difference.

chicaguapa · 29/03/2010 19:48

Going to get some of those frozen pain au chocolat now. Not spotted them before.

fishie · 29/03/2010 19:53

supreme taramasalata
cirio tinned tomatoes
their own brand flour is very good (inc rye and malted grains)

chicaguapa · 29/03/2010 19:57

MrsJohnDere - what recipe do you use for the ribs? I'm going to try them.

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 29/03/2010 20:18

Frozen free range chicken thighs - I haven't come across them in free range anywhere else.

Anything from the essentials range - all fab.

Croissants and pain au chocolats (will look for the frozen ones)

Ice cream - is yummy

Hummus and coleslaw - free range wafer thin ham

God I could go on - I am a recent convert and now zealot

hellymelly · 29/03/2010 20:20

I am so so so jealous.I have moved very very far away from Waitrose and I nearly cried when ocado said they wouldn't deliver to me.
