You need to respect the salmon. Boring indeed!

bake it in foil with garlic and ginger and serve with noodles and pak choy.

rubyslippers · 10/03/2010 17:48

bake with a herb and breadcrumb crust

no fat

overmydeadbody · 10/03/2010 17:48

or if you like it cold slice it really thinly, marinate in lemon juice (this will change it's colour) and serve like sushi, with rice and salad.

SuSylvester · 10/03/2010 17:49

Marinate in light soy sauce (Kikkoman is best) with chopped garlic, ginger and sesame oil for about 30 minutes. Then bake in the oven, wrapped in foil, and serve with noodles and stir fried veg.

cyb · 10/03/2010 17:52

my mouth is toatally watering and I am hungry at all this salmon talk

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/03/2010 17:53

Or, skin the salmon and cut it up into small chunks. Fry very quickly in some olive oil, add some chilli flakes and spring onion and any fresh herbs you like/have to hand, then creme fraiche and stir into linguine.

overmydeadbody · 10/03/2010 17:53

steam it, flake it, and mix with creme fresh and cream cheese into tagliatelle.

overmydeadbody · 10/03/2010 17:54

BecauseI'mWorthIt bewtter to steam it for your recipe, the frying thing is totally pointless and will just break the salmon up too much and make the house smell of frying

EvilTwins · 10/03/2010 17:54

Spread with a paste made from one tbsp of ras el hanout spice mix (moroccan - more usually used for lamb. Comes as a ready made mix) and 1 tbsp oil per fillet. Sprinkle over some thinly sliced spring onions. Bake in oven for 10 mins, then open oven and drizzle over some honey then bake for a further 5 mins. Serve with cous cous (DH likes the stuff that comes with veg mixed in. I prefer plain, but flavoured with a bit of lemon juice and olive oil) Nice. And a bit different.

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/03/2010 17:59

overmydeadbody - if you cut it into small enough dice it doesn't need to cook that long - you're really just warming it through and coating it in warm olive oil, and then the heat from the linguine finishes the cooking.

(I know what you mean about the frying smell though - I hate the smell of all fried fish - but doing it this way really doesn't smell)

SuSylvester · 10/03/2010 18:55

Waitrose magazine has a recipe this month for spicy coconut salmon that sounds nice (I haven't tried it but want to).

Make a spice rub of 3tbsp sweet paprika, 1 tbsp ground coriander and 1 tsp cumin, 10-12 saffron threads, 3tsp salt, 1 tbsp brown sugar, .25 tsp cayenne and .5 tsp freshly ground black pepper. (I might add a pinch of dried chilli flakes)

Stir 1.5 tbsp of the rub into 60ml coconut milk. Brush the salmon with it.

Fry the salmon while basting with the rest of the milk. Serve with rice and something green (I'd choose broccoli)

bibbitybobbityhat · 10/03/2010 19:11

The very best way to have salmon is of course with pasta and double cream, or wrapped in puff pastry en croute HA HA!!!

SuSylvester · 10/03/2010 19:11
