.

Healthy or unhealthy

How many of them like marmite?

If so do you spread it thin {like me, scraped on then off again sort of thing} or thicker {like DH does, like other spreads}?

Do they like Bovril?

How often would they have it?

What about Jam, what is their favourite flavour and how often would they have it?

DO they have salad in their sandwich, ie lettuce and tomato?

.

Smoked salmon

She's also keen on smoked mackerel pate (smoked m. fillets Magimixed with cream cheese) w cucumber

okapi · 12/07/2005 09:43

ds1 likes plain grated chedder 9 days out of 10 and marmite on the other day.

has been the same lunch for 2 yrs

Aero · 12/07/2005 09:47

It was made with beef previously RT, but now pretty much like marmite (though tastes miles better IMO), as in it's yeast based. Probably something to do with the BSE risk thing.

RTKangaMummy · 12/07/2005 10:04

Well then that can be my piece of new information for today then, thanks guys

DS loves salmon and tuna too {not together though}

ds1 (3.5) has philadelphia and marmite sandwiches - calls the philadelphia 'normal' cheese - every day just about. I do try grated cheese instead sometimes and he will eat them if at playschool but he won't try any other fillings.
Ds2 (20 months) loves ham and pickle, tuna & mayonnaise, cheese and marmite, cheese and pickle etc - no salad though.

WideWebWitch · 12/07/2005 10:13

Ooh interesting about Bovril, I might get some. I know enid but I thought it was made with beef and can't stomach the thought of non organic beef (I know, I'm a ponce, as Cod told me yesterday)!

RTKangaMummy · 12/07/2005 10:30

Tracey please could you give more details

blended chicken. mayo and spring onion. or cheese and avacado, or cheese and pear.

Sound yummy

no marmite or bovril lovers in this house. DD loves jam on toast and i try to buy less sugary and more fruity ones like Bonne maman( the Jars are nice for using after too!)
her current fave is chicken, mashed avocado and cress that she grew herself!

handlemecarefully · 12/07/2005 10:38

ham

RTKangaMummy · 12/07/2005 10:38

so is that roast chicken cut in slices with avacardo slices

OP posts:
sorrel · 12/07/2005 10:41

roast chicken- either leftovers or bought cooked chicken legs.
Mashed avocado(with a bit of lemon juice) to butter the bread with. Learnt this in Australis where they often used mashed avo instead of butter or mayo. Yum

sorrel · 12/07/2005 10:42

Australia- sorry

it is good- liking avocados has also helped her her over her deep suspision of anything green. Hooray!

saadia · 12/07/2005 10:50

Ds likes Philadelphia cheese with cucumber, and houmus with grated carrot.

QueenEagle · 12/07/2005 10:53

Chocolate spread, peanut butter, raspberry jam, marmite thinly spread, cheese spread, quorn ham or quorn chicken, cheese with salad.

They always want something different but I think the list above is quite varied.

moonshine · 12/07/2005 10:58

Ds likes Philly with sliced banana (and so do I!). Banana also nice with peanut butter (although that's not much good to you).

DD likes Philly and smoked salmon bagels but is mostly a complete carnivore and would rather eat chunks of chicken or sausage.

I refuse to buy mayo or salad cream because I hate them so much myself - can't even stand the smell.

Hmmm...think we may be eating too much Philly in this house though.

gingerbear · 12/07/2005 11:05

jam spread on rich tea or digestives. Not tried jammy dodgers.

Like the smoked mackerel/cream cheese pate idea.

Ds(5)

Favourte filling-tuna mayonnaise & cucumber.

Marmite-loves it, i spread it thinly, but he'll eat it spread thickly.

Bovril-has never tried but would think he'd like it as it's so similar to marmite.

Jam-strawberry, doesn't have it often as he'd rather have marmite.

Salad-loves all salad except tomatoes

dd(2)

Favourite filling-cheese or ham

Marmite-very thinly

Bovril-never tried

Jam-any flavour at least once/week

Salad-only cucumber

sorrel · 12/07/2005 11:37

alibubbles - my mum used to make us sugar sandwiches too and also hundreds and thousands( sprinkles)sandwiches too. She used to cut them out with a star shaped cutter for parties! my dd's & friends would just laugh their socks off if i did that now!

TracyK · 12/07/2005 12:28

RTKanga - put cooked chicken breast (broken into cubes) into blender with some mayo and chopped spring onions and pulse a bit.
I think now it was philli cheese with sliced (tins of) pears (in own juice), and also the pulsed chicken and mayo with slices or chunks of avocados.
