What do you LOVE to see on a buffet?

What makes you punch the air and say, "YESSSS! They've got X!"

We're having an afternoon birthday gathering of close friends and family at home. There will be a few toddlers and maybe 20 ish adults.

So what would you be chuffed to see?

Dancing bears or wolf nipple chips

Vol au vents. So uncool but so nice. Not prawn though, too soggy.

Some onion bhajis or samosas. Love spicy foods.

Profiteroles, but I would eat them all, I adore them

Cheese and pineapple on sticks - so naff, and yet gorgeous!

Hairy, is that some kind of Heston Blumenthal recipe?

Costa, what would be a good flavour for a vol?

crispy spring rolls with a sweet chilli dip

Nibbly bits like:
Samosas
Spring rolls
Breaded chicken (ie 'nice' chicken nuggets)
Homemade cheese straws

Good bread, butter and cheeses

This is making me hungry. I could eat party food every day

mmm yes, I think things on sticks are essential. I may even get DP to make some kind of hedgehog formation to wow my guests with our presentation skills.

god I love chicken nuggets too. Are they a faff to make do you think? Obv there'll be no tortured chickens anywhere near our buffet chicken don't you know!

Oh I am drooling. Absolutely bloody adore party food. Vol au vents could be mushroom, or chicken, or salmon & creme fraiche. Definitely home made cheese straws. Finger rolls, with lovely fillings. (Sighs and remembers flabby stomach).

good dips can't go wrong

really hungry now - off to fridge for cheese on crackers with pickle!!!
