yummy yummy yummy that's what it is!
What did you eat it with?

serenity · 20/05/2005 16:16

I wouldn't worry about avoiding french restaurants as it's a greek/middle eastern dish!

And I have to agree with the yummy vote, especially with some nice hot toasted pitta

janeybops · 20/05/2005 16:18

I LOVE humous. It is delicious. Don't forget the tahini in it as well...

elsmommy · 20/05/2005 16:23

YUMMY humous! As a dip with toasted pittas. On a roll with green, leafy salad and onions. Delicious.

it's a fave here too, ds loves it spread on bread or pitta then covered in grated cheese and popped under the grill...mmm now I'm feeling hungry

hamster · 20/05/2005 16:41

hmmmm you lot are making me hungry!
Ooh I fancy a fresh hot baguette and a BIG tub of the stuff to dip in

cupcakes · 20/05/2005 16:54

Yum! Had hot pitta with houmous for lunch today. Dd keeps trying it with her pitta but she's not very sure. All the more for me!
Is it particularly fattening? I like to think of it as healthy but am worried I may be misleading myself...

Mud · 20/05/2005 18:20

are you mad?

hummous has SO much oil in it - its very good for you though

and very delicious - a firm favourite in the house of mud

elibelly · 20/05/2005 18:22

it has quite a high fat content - lots of oil but who cares

motherinferior · 20/05/2005 18:23

The tahini in it is enormously fattening. But very good for you in other ways. It's delicious, and a firm favourite with everyone in the Inferiority Complex. DD1 likes it on toast for breakfast.

cupcakes · 20/05/2005 18:36

It does seem to be quite high in calories - I am hoping it has a certain amount of 'goodness' to outweigh it

hoxtonchick · 20/05/2005 18:37

ds calls it thomas...

just to add that M&S have started doing some with sundried tomatoes in a little circle in the middle of the top. I got it the other day for dd and me(dh wondered what on earth I had put in it at first but then found it was really quite nice:-)
It yummy! There is another variety thats new there as well but I cannot think what it was.Myself and dd(19mths) love dipping falafel in it, yummmy yummy yummy....
I have also spread it on rice cakes for her since she was tiny, messy but great fun.

NotQuiteCockney · 20/05/2005 19:27

humous has a reasonable amount of protein in it, and is also a good source of iron, I think. It's not a low-fat food, but I'd only worry about it if you're polishing off a pot on your own.

LGJ · 20/05/2005 19:30

Oh heaven.................Elsmommy try it again with hot pitta or tortilla chips.........
