Without doing any sneaky research now if you don't already know, what do you think couscous is?

(I am bored, sorry)

It's like tiny tiny pasta. Wheat, anyway. Don't know how they make it.

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 07/06/2009 19:38

losingmyrag · 07/06/2009 19:38

like a tiny rice like grain - i love it - so easy to conjure up.

TheMadHouse · 07/06/2009 19:38

a grain

SoMuchToBits · 07/06/2009 19:38

Agree with trillian - a wheat based product like pasta but in very small pieces.

Fibonacci · 07/06/2009 19:39

wheat

CarGirl · 07/06/2009 19:39

wheat

MerlinsBeard · 07/06/2009 19:40

yes it's horrid

serenity · 07/06/2009 19:40

Some kind of grain, cooked then dried and crumbled (I think) Wheat probably.

Overmydeadbody · 07/06/2009 19:41

yep a tiny pasta

Am amazed at how many people think it is a grain, or a grain in itself, rather than made form wheat.

Oh yes, semolina like the OtherMaryPoppins said.

Overmydeadbody · 07/06/2009 19:43

It was originally rolled by hand from semolina flour mixed with water, then coated in wheat flour.

How time consuming thT MUST HAVE BEEN.

OP posts:
Overmydeadbody · 07/06/2009 19:44

Rolled by hand? Bloody hell. By pixies?

pointydog · 07/06/2009 20:00

most closely related to pasta? So not hugely nutritional?

I asked my dd if she knew what it was last week as she was eating it, as she has decided she doesn't like pasta but will eat cous cous
She said 'I don't know mummy, but it's deeee-licious' [huge ponce emoticon]
