I avoid buying cereals because I'm not keen. I'd rather have a toast with salted butter and mil's clementine jam. So there

And you're italian, franca. I wouldn't expect an italian to enjoy breakfast cereals

Oh no, lots of Italians do nowadays.

Sugar & caffeine fire up my mornings. I like a pot of coffee & two slices of wholemeal toast generously spread with butter & blackcurrant jam. I add salt & pepper to my cooking. I like to feel a bit devil-may-care .

I buy no added sugar/salt muesli, porridge and shredded wheat. I prefer to add fruit/nuts for flavour than sugar or salt.

God, are we not allowed to like cereal now? Anyway, I'll stick with Dr Whatserface Regan who was happy to allow kids (people) to eat any cereal.

Having lived in the States for a while I am just glad that my children don't want their cereal in lurid pink and green with marshmallow bits, of which their were many varieties, all of which tasted absolutely disgusting and still had "health" claims on the packets.

I don't worry too much about the salt in the cereals they do eat (shreddies and weetabix on the whole) because we don't each many processed foods, which tend to be very salty, we use unsalted butter, and dh makes our bread (another source of a surprising amount of salt, although we make out own to save money primarily). I think you have to think about your average daily consumption and then consider the parts of it rather than getting too worried about individual components on their own.
