What'cha doin' for tea tonight peeps? I'm fed up with choosing what to have, spending ages preparing stuff only to find I throw it all away as dds don't like it.

chick pea dahl and rice

maisystar, how do you make chick pea dahl? Dried or canned chickpeas? I love dahl but have only made it with lentils - would love the recipe (pretty please!)

I'm doing beef stew and dumplings.

Chilli with 'authentic' seasonings all the way from Texas, and boy is it hot!

Re meatballs with less fat. Nigella has a recipe where she makes the meatballs into little balls and puts them on a plate in the fridge for 30 mins, meanwhile prepares the tomato sauce and then when the sauce is simmering add the meatballs gently one by one, leave for a few mins before stirring so as not to break the meatballs up. No need to fry.

Chosen to go with spag bol. Cheating with jar of sauce though.

Just put chicken in to roast, went to pick up DD from after school activity & she was carrying a stir-fried chicken dish that I forgot she was making at school today (even though i had to get all the ingredients!). It smells fab!

well my thought of cooking has fallen flat.....DH has just rung to say he isn't eating tonight as his brother has got some free tickets to go watch Bournemouth play....he give 2hrs notice .
Added to the fact that the kiddies aren't feeling well......I should just have stuck to frozen burgers shouldn't I!!!!

ho hum....lots of meatballs for me then

DS1 and DS2 - sausages, home made 'chips' (i.e baked potato wedges), baked beans

DS3 - sweet potato, carrot and brocolli puree combo made from assortment of frozen cubes in freezer!

DH and I - pork loin chops, baked potato and corn on the cob

ANd probably a bowl of rice krispies for me after - I'm addicted to them at the moment!

nothing now...... only came on mn for 5 mins(honest) now the chickens burnt the carrotts have boiled dry .......oh dear

Having steak n chips now...

Mince didn't thaw out enough (shame), so will have that tomorrow, in the form of meatballs.

The Darling kiddies had sausage n chips.....see, still relying too much on frozen stuff , but then, they don't get sausages often. DD1 is away with the school, and she throws a wobbler at sausages, so the others only get them for a treat.

Children hardly ate anything but were offered pizza, peas and sweetcorn. Ds was allowed pick and mix after school (a rare treat) so no wonder he didn't want it, no idea why dd wouldn't eat. Dp and I had vegetable biryani but it was a hell of a faff, won't do it again for a while. Fish last night was loads easier, shoved in the oven in foil with some lemon and herbs.

We did "make your own" pizzas - I had tuna, prawns and sweetcorn on mine.

Well...ds1 decided he doesn't like corn on the cob any more (since last week), ds2 said "I not like these onions" (there were no onions in it, well, spring onions but he's supposed to like those) and ds1 also reckons he only likes green cabbage not white cabbage.

Giving them bloody turkey twizzlers tomorrow.
