...not just food. aye right.

was looking forward to a bit of toast, picked up a slice of bread and a big, yellow, torn fingernail fell out. BLEEE! i'm not squeamish but am seriously squicked.

phoned M&S and they said i've to take it back to the shop and i'll get a refund and they'll investigate.

poor dd is yelling for toast, can't really go into why she's not getting any. think we're going out for brunch now.

DH took the bread back and they treated him like he was at it...

yup, like i wanted to hand back an uneaten loaf that i'd wished to slather with butter and marmite that morning.

Aitch, did you get photographic evidence of it? Please tell me they gave you more than just a refund.

notsoteenagemum · 11/10/2008 20:34

I found a handfull pubes in an almond croissant in m&s cafe and they asked me if I was sure they weren't mine! I said "oh yes I forgot I shoved it down my pants before paying for it" They gave me a refund and £20 voucher.
I complained to head office about them asking if they were my pubes and got a fifty quid voucher. woo hoo

giraffescantdancethetango · 11/10/2008 20:39

eeeew not the m&s beside argos is it?? (just checking its not my local) Mind you I have been considering a breadmaker...you might have encouraged me

Aitch · 11/10/2008 20:41

nah, byres road. you're safe.

lolololololol at the almond croissant. dh feels a bit better now that he knows its company policy to act like a twunt.

Urrgh at the croissant.

I can't believe they doubted your dh, that would really piss me off.

Aitch · 11/10/2008 20:52

fortunately the croissant has cheered him.

I had a pack of M&S wine gums and one of the last ones in the pack had a wirey black hair embedded in it

I promptly packaged it up and returned it to their customer services dept with a letter detailing my complaint and they sent me an apology and a £25 voucher.

madlentileater · 11/10/2008 21:02

arghhh....go to Trading Standards!
We had a bit of wood in a pie once (from Birketts, now Greggs!) and it was VERY thoroughly investigated.

madlentileater · 11/10/2008 21:04

if it's any concolation, if it was 'baked in' it will be sterile. But still gross.

Aitch · 11/10/2008 21:05

ROFL how disaffected are m&s staff?!

where's ruddynorah, she works there...

OP posts:
Aitch · 11/10/2008 21:06

sounds like a toenail tbh!

jammydodger · 11/10/2008 21:24

I found a piece of jagged glass in my Fruit"n"Fibre once when I was 12 (actually had it in my mouth)...my mum complained, obviously, and we got....a free packet of Common Sense cornflakes. Woohoo.

Guadalupe · 11/10/2008 21:36

Mum found a screw in her Pizazz once. When they investigated it and confirmed it was from their machinery we got seven pounds worth of Walls vouchers which is quite a lot of ice-cream when you're 11.

wonderstuff · 11/10/2008 21:37

Aitch call head office, they have enough problems at the moment with the credit crunch they will investigate and send you vouchers I'm sure. I have family working in M&S food, tis awful at the moment..

Aitch · 11/10/2008 21:46

well this is what pissed dh off tbh, we practically live opposite that bloody place so we spent FORTUNES in there (dh genuinely thinks that if it's got a 'wise buys' sticker on it, then it's a bargain) but the person still treated him like a wee bit of a prick.

i phones customer services this morning, was treated like a bit of a prick too if i'm honest.

was wondering where that nail went

Aitch · 11/10/2008 21:51

lol, you must also have been wondering where the last ten mins of your life went, thefinger... you can't get that time back, you know...

OP posts:
TheFinger · 11/10/2008 21:53

Good innit?!

Sadly (or maybe not) I didn't create it! Am 'giving' it to MN to fight off trolls with!

wonderstuff · 11/10/2008 21:54

Relative is pretty senior in food, will discuss when I next see him (he'll be thrilled!) What type of bread was it??

Aitch · 11/10/2008 21:59

multi seed bloomer slices. hideously expensive 'wise buy'

OP posts:
giraffescantdancethetango · 13/10/2008 23:03

did head office get you anything free then? or just a poxy refund?

wigglesmum · 19/10/2008 13:44

I found a shard of plastic in an M&S chicken pasta salad a while back and they only gave me a refund! It was really sharp too!
We used to do our weekly shops at M&S- not anymore.
