Sausages..how many does everyone eat?

Sorry if a silly question..I buy Tesco's finest sausages = 6 in a pack. We are DH, DS 4.6, DD 2.2 and my good self. How many sausages should it take to feed us? I only ask because I suspect I am over feeding everyone!

I'd have 2 or 3, DH would have 3 or 4, kids - 2.

plus3 · 08/10/2008 18:24

So 2 packs is reasonable for supper? Just thought it seemed alot until they are on the plates!

Stinkyfeet · 08/10/2008 18:25

I would eat 3 of those, so would DP. I would share out 2 of them between the DSs (2.5 and 5.5) - slightly more in favour of the older one!

But sausages are my weakness I have to say

BecauseImAWitch · 08/10/2008 18:25

Generally we would all have 3. I buy two packs of 6 and we share the 12 between us. (DCs are 16 and 13).

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 08/10/2008 18:25

ah, but what if they're chipolatas ?

Overmydeadbody · 08/10/2008 18:25

I would eat 4, DS would eat two or three.

FAQ · 08/10/2008 18:26

my DS's are 8,4 and 16 months - I would do 3 for DS1, 2 for DS2, and 1 for DS3, 3 for me, then we usually have mash, bacon, eggs, beans and mushrooms too

funny you asked this, i have just cooked a packet of 16.

DD had 4
DS had 2
DS had 2
I had 2

3 dogs had 1 each

3 in fridge for cold ones in packed lunch tommo.

DH abroad but would have had 4

plus3 · 08/10/2008 18:28

Chipolatas are for breakfast so 3 each plus eggs etc would be fine..

shinyshoes · 08/10/2008 18:28

If there are only 6 in a pack.

DH 2
me 2
the children 1 each

we buy the 8 packs and in this house

DH = 2
DS 1 (he's 11 )= 2
DS 2 (he's 8 ) = 2
Me = 2

children of 2 and 4 years of age wouldnt need more than 1 each I wouldnt have thought, I'd assume there would be potatoes or chips and veg with that as well.
That'll be plenty

beansmum · 08/10/2008 18:28

I would have 2, ds(4) would have 1-2

Milliways · 08/10/2008 18:32

I found, when we started buying the Sainsbury Extra Special Sausages, that if I bought a packet of 12 Chipolatas/long thin ones, everyone was happy with just 3 of those. Whereas they would want 3 fat ones if I did those.!

I recently tried a fab one-pot recipe for Mexian Chilli Sausages, where 8 bog standard sausages were enough (but chopped up and ooked in with rice, toms, kidney beans etc), so that was another cheap meal.

plus3 · 08/10/2008 18:32

Served with mash and peas...DS has just eaten 2.5, DD 2 and me 1.5 (on the side)

OP posts:
plus3 · 08/10/2008 18:34

Miliways - I agree am sure it's all about number of sausages rather than quantity. Like the sound of the mexican chilli sausage thing - where's that from?

OP posts:
FAQ · 08/10/2008 18:34

oh served with just mash and peas DS1 would probably have 4, DS3 and me 4 - DS3 would still just have the one as he tends to just pull them to pieces still

plus3 · 08/10/2008 18:35

It's such a great supper (sigh) Not sure what to give DH now as am now lacking in sausages

OP posts:
NorthernLurker · 08/10/2008 18:36

Dh and I would eat 3-4
dd1 - 2
dd2 - 1-2
dd3 - 1/2

Basically - two packs leave enough for me to have a sausgae sandwich later in the week

plus3 · 08/10/2008 18:39

Ok here's a another question - do you slice your cold sausages up for the sandwich or leave them whole..(think am a tad sausage obsessed this evening..)

OP posts:
forevercleaning · 08/10/2008 19:39

I slice them lengthways through the middle, then use 4 halves in a sandwich. Perfect!

ohdearwhatamess · 08/10/2008 19:50

In a sandwich (lunch) 2.
For an evening meal (with mash or toad in the hole) 3-4 (depending on size).

Dh would have the same. The dcs can't/won't eat them.

ohdearwhatamess · 08/10/2008 19:50

Must be sliced lengthways for an sandwich. Then covered in chilli sauce rather than ketchup!

sweetcat · 08/10/2008 19:51

mm, cooking sausages now - 3 each plus mash, peas, onion gravy and yorkshire puds!

SmugColditz · 08/10/2008 19:51

i'd have 2 tesco finest - i may expect 3 cheap ones though

SmugColditz · 08/10/2008 19:54

I would give a man three, I would have two, ds1 would have 2, ds2 would have 1.

But just for me and kids, I would have 2.5, ds2 would have 2 and ds2 would have 1.5 - just to avoid the spare sausage
