I've just put some chicken that is off into my casserole. I've taken it out but should I throw the rest of the casserole out?

And I should add that this is the fourth sodding time I have had gone off chicken that is in date

So is the rest of the casserole doomed now?
Its only got onions and carrots in with some oil and wine atm but its still all uncooked.

but would not eat a casserole that had had off chicken in it either...

happily eat chicken a day or 2 past use by dates (that looks and smells ok, AND then properly cooked etc) and havent died yet, but i really wouldnt risk chicken that is actually off...

Its starting to smell a bit funny.
I thought it was ok when I opened the pack as usually you get a horrid whiff of rotten eggs when its totally off, but I started peeling the veg into the box and I could smell something bad.
I checked the chicken and nearly gagged.

Arsing hell.

Such a waste of food.

Thats 3 carrots, an onion, some garlic, wine and a whole pack of chicken down the drain.

Will have to ring Tesco again.

oh bollox. have you checked your fridge temp, if your chicken keeps going off?

Chicken that is packed into those plastic tray things always gives off a smell which can make you think it has gone off and I think alot of the trays now state something about this on the label where the cooking instructions are.I used to be like that when we used to buy it like that,but use a butcher now.

Fridge is on top setting and all my other meat keeps ok.
Its always their chicken.
In fact I think I've had more than 4 lots of it off now.

I buy their packs of drumsticks and thighs which are BOGOF and I've had it with their whole chickens too.

When we have more money so we can afford non crap chicken, then we will buy non crap chicken.

In the meantime, I will have to rely on buying supermarkets own meat.

but surely the amount of food you are wasting (like today) makes it not worthwhile?

get Ocado to deliver - they price match all branded goods with Tesco

I've tried to order with Ocado before but they don't deliver to my area

Do they really price match?

I'll get my money back on the chicken as it was bought online.
I have called them in the past and they have refunded with no quibble.
Doesn't refund me for the hassle and inconvienience though.

oh NBG you sound like me am fed up with throwinf off meat away that is still in date despite having replaced the fridge freezer ans it being at the right temp

See I bet Ocados meat is expensive.

At Tesco they do the packs of thighs and drumsticks BOGOF and 2 packs of mini breast fillets for £5.
But if its always off then its a waste of time buying it.

I'd suggest maybe trying Tesco's frozen chicken? It's highly unlikely to be off and so might save you from having to throw money in the bin in future?

Oh and the stuff I've just defrosted is off too
