It really is pink!

ExterminAitch · 28/07/2008 23:09

beans on toast with cheese or a fried egg on top. it's a real favourite here...

wrinklytum · 28/07/2008 23:09

Tonight did a fusilli and whatever left in fridge special

Added onion, bacon, spinach (those frozen cubes you can get) ,baby courgettes, green beans.

Sprinkled cheese on top.

Was actually quite nice.

Klaw · 28/07/2008 23:17

Put on the pasta to cook
open a tin of tuna
nuke the frozen sweetcorn
open the jar of hellmans

stir them all together when the pasta is cooked. Season to taste

if feeling a bit more adventurous, (cos there's some preparation involved)

fry bacon and chopped onion and maybe mushrooms
add Philladelpia light
when that's melted down add cream/Elmlea
stir till all nicely mixed
pour over cooked pasta, season to taste

Klaw · 28/07/2008 23:18

if it's just me then it's scrambled eggs and toast, with a dollop of tomato sauce!

MMMmmmmmm I love it!

DustyTV · 28/07/2008 23:25

I have posted this before but....
meat pie.

Packet of pastry (shortcrust or puff)

Tin of stew steak/chicken in white sauce.

Couple of handfuls of frozen diced veg.

tin of new potatoes.

mix meat, veg and potatoes, place in oven proof dish, put pastry over top and prick with fork. Cook on gas mark 6 for approx 20-30 mins.

Tasty, cheap, easy and next to no washing up

susiecutiebananas · 28/07/2008 23:32

I did a fav standby today, and also seems quite popluar here

Classy Tuna pasta...

Cook pasta, add tin of tuna, sweetcorn drizzle over garlic olive oil and a bit of chilli oil too, if not for LO. Grate cheese over ad mix it all up. it is SO tasty. honestly, the garlic oil takes it into a whole different plain

Also,
Eggy Bread.
Bread dipped in seasoned whisked eggs ( with fork) fried. serve with Tomato sauce. OR, make sweet, with lots of icing sugar on when cooking - nice for breakfast ( can add cinnamon to icing sugar

ALso
Poached Eggs on toast with cheese. known as "Steves Eggs' here, as my BIL did it first...
Undercook the poached eggs, then put into toast ( cooked on 1 side) grate v thick layer of cheese over and grill until bubbling. The egg cooks just perfectly under the Cheese.

ALso...
I think this has an actual name as I've seen it on TV since I honestly discovered it myself/made it up myself! Seems obvious though...
FLoured Tortillas with fillings
I use, 2 floured tortillas. Spread a little tomato puree on them, then add (what ever you want) Tuna, mushrooms, jalapenos anything really, and grate lots and lots of cheese. Then heat large frying pan with any kind of oil, I use garlic or chilli for more flavour. Heat through until crsipy and cheese melted. cut into 4. You will want 2 whole ones, so make plenty!!!

Hannah81 · 28/07/2008 23:36

mine is a kind of lamby, beany dish! lol
chopped fried onion, lamb mince, lamb oxo and a tin of baked beans - all cooked together in a pan an served with boiled rice - its really delicious and my hubby loves it - you have to drain all the fat off the lamb tho!

ThatBigGermanPrison · 28/07/2008 23:36

Ohhhh Hannah that looks delish!

susiecutiebananas · 28/07/2008 23:45

meant to add to my obvious recipe... tortillas- sandwich the tuna, cheese jalapenos etc between 2 tortillas and heat in pan. so its a big tortilla sarnie... hmmmmmm

I tried a really easy recipe last night by Anna Del Conte - it was published in Observer Food Monthly 2 weeks ago.

Olio Aglio
500g dried pasta (spaghetti worked well)
8 tbs ex virgin olive oil
4 garlic cloves finely chopped
salt, pepper

Cook spaghetti as per instructions on packet. Heat oil and cook garlic for a couple of minutes over medium heat until golden. Add salt and pepper to taste. Drain pasta and toss it all together.

Great for when the cupboards are almost completely bare! And takes only ten minutes. Despite all the garlic, the flavour is really light and DD (21 months) loved it and asked for seconds.

BlingLovin · 31/07/2008 11:04

We do the spaghetti, garlic, salt, pepper thing often. Adding parmesan works, or chilli flakes (if DC can take it). And if you have fresh basil, throw some in too. Really works well. Lemon too if you have it and feel like it.

Laugs · 31/07/2008 15:53

It's lovely isn't it? Just as easy as sticking a pizza in the oven, but feels way more virtuous

Marne · 31/07/2008 15:55

Roasted veg and pots

beans on toast

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 16:03

spicy bean hot pot with either bacon / chorizo / sausages / whatever is lurking.

fry onion and garlic, then fry sliced meat, add 2 x tins beans (kidney and haricot we use) 1 x tin toms, tom puree, brown sugar, wholegrain mustard, worc sauce, some stock and whatever gubbins you usually use in such things. Chilli falkes or whatnot.

simmer for about 30 mins or whatever, then chop up some mushrooms and chuck in for the last couple of minutes and a very liberal dose of chopped parsley if you have any around.

I loves it I does.

Or an easier one

fry an onion, fry some sausages in same pot when soft, add some cannelini beans and thyme, add tin of blitzed toms, bung in oven. Done. Good with mashed pot n savoy cabb.

How exciting, I've got fritatta for tea. Grr.

Electricgooberella · 31/07/2008 16:04

Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions, red pepper.

Chop all. Put in a large bowl.

Tah-dah. Tis a salad.

woodstock3 · 02/08/2008 21:53

if for more than me - spaghetti carbonara. while pasta's cooking, fry some odds nd ends of bacon (or if cant be arsed with this, chop up some ham leftover by child). beat an egg with a few tablespoons of cream. grate some cheese into this mixture. drain pasta and return to hot saucepan and put this back on stove, stir in egg/cream/cheese mix and stir round for a minute til egg is lightly cooked. tip in bacon/ham. done.
luckily this is dh's favourite meal anyway so he thinks i have gone to enormous effort
if just me, a handful of jaffa cakes and a gin and tonic.

Lots of philadelphia cream cheese stirred into hot pasta with cherry tomatoes, topped with a bit of grated cheddar and baked in the oven (quick macaroni cheese style thing).

Pasta and jar of sauce topped with grated cheddar and baked in oven.

Spaghetti with garlic, olive oil and broccolli.

Chickpea curry (super fast and easy).

Veg stirfry (with leftover veg) and egg fried rice.
