What product(s) would you never compromise on?

okay, so can of tinned tomatoes is a can of tinned tomatoes, wherever it's from.

But for me, after trying various types/brands/Lidl etc, I've decided that you can't compromise on a)Parmesan and b)sanitary towels.

Anyone else?

I do buy own brand sanitary stuff but I worry that the strings on tampons might fall off !! Proper chunks of parmesan definitely and decent coffee, nice bread.

free range eggs/chicken,

local meat, (tbh would rather go without than have anything other - (hence why we don't eat meat every day)

and fresh juice not from concentrate - hate that concentrate stuff - only brought when on offer thou.

the rest of it - don't care about tbh, and will buy what ever's cheap.

bin bags - you end up using 2 if they are the really chep ones anyway

clingfilm - can never find the end on the cheap shit

washing powder - cheap shit doesn't work

make up - probably more fish scales in

bread - anything that is not off in 2 days should not be eaten - ideally should be off the next day

Good quality cold meats - none of that watery pre-packed stuff

Butter. You've got to have the real deal.

Disagree with you about the tinned tomatoes though fircone - I find the cheapo ones are in very watery 'juice'. Napolina's are waaay nicer IMO.

Meat, eggs and dairy.

They need to be sourced as local as possible and free range for us.

We try to go local as much as possible with presents and gift giving and any services and try to support Scottish farmers and food producers whenever possible, or any British farmer or food producer.

People say it's more expensive. Well, the cost of food production here is higher.

And if you think it's expensive now, think how dear it's going to be when you put these people out of business and are therefore hostage to anyone who has the goods?

bread - again, would rather have crackers or pitta than hovis or warbutons or any sliced stuff (don't mind Aldi med sliced wholemeal for toaties tho) either make my own or our local shop sources from our local craft baker - all handmade £1.25-30 for large loaf, so I don't think it's that bad
good coffee beans (buy Starbucks blend from Costco), but actually like Aldi own cheap instant coffee

As others have said definately meat, free -range eggs, and juice (I always buy the not from concentrate stuff).

im scared to buy meat from anywhere else except m + s. sausages, cut meats, chicken all put me in a flumox. oh and white bread as dd has decided she doesnt like "seeds".

Sausages & burgers - from local butchers
Eggs - always buy free-range
ham - m&s
bread - wholemeal organic is best!

Oh, and tinned tomatoes - have tried loads and the most expensive are def the best!

sausages, burgers and mince - got to be good quality with high meat content.
Baked beans and tomato ketchup - got to be heinz...
washing up liquid - cheap stuff is false economy as you just use twice as much.
Butter - can't stand margarine.

Try to buy organic milk as DS still drinks quite a lot of it, also butter over marg any day.
