am a recent convert too, that's why I come over all evangelical about it - I never touched it until last September !
MaryAnnSingleton's top Nutella treat, apart from a crepe, is a tower of rice cakes sandwiched with generous slatherings of Nutella

crepes with nutella is just the bestest, nicest, yummiest food on the planet

not so sure about the rice cakes though? am a bit funny with rice cakes, only like the with peanutbutter or cheese.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/06/2008 19:02

the bland rice cake lends itself to the lovely Nutella-ness, trust me !

toast, nutella with sliced peaches.

Hecate · 30/06/2008 19:04

Tesco's own is much nicer than Nutella.

So I've heard, I mean, we don't have choc spread in our house! Oh no no no no no. Food of the devil. Unbecoming a MNer. No siree. In fact, I've never tasted it.

Actually, I've never heard of Tesco either.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/06/2008 19:04

is fab on a toasted bagel too justjules, I agree... don't care for it messed about with any other flavourings though

Picture hecate sneaking to tesco with headscarf on buying chocolate spread and hiding it in the shed.....

ivykaty44 · 30/06/2008 19:20

IK has chocolate spread in her house and eats it for breakfast - just not often enough

Hecate · 30/06/2008 19:21

Tesco far far away, at 3am, headscarf and big sunglasses, to return with Unmentionable and hide it under floorboards in next door neighbours' shed.

SpacePuppy · 30/06/2008 19:23

its more than 50% sugar! just buy lovely decent choc, melt it and spread it on a piece of bread!

belgo · 30/06/2008 20:17

Nutella is a stable of the belgian diet, certainly for breakfast! Even a peadiatrician here recommended it to give to the one year old daugther of a friend of mine.

Tatties · 30/06/2008 20:27

I love Nutella

MERLYPUSS · 30/06/2008 20:55

Nutella on warm croissants. It is a health food doncha know. They sell hazelnuts in Holland & Barratt and Nutella has H/Nuts in it so it MUST be a health food.
Like choccy orange count as one of your five a day.

brightwell · 30/06/2008 20:58

I like it best off a spoon or 2

purpleflower · 30/06/2008 21:01

It's nice on crumpets. Now my mouth is watering.

Judy1234 · 30/06/2008 21:23

It's peddled sugar, pushed like a drug, even advertised on mumsnet. A poison really.

margoandjerry · 30/06/2008 21:28

Nigel Slater has an amazing recipe for chocolate pots with nutella for extra deliciousness. Please try - recipe here then post and tell me how happy you are.

Mind you, I can't really approve of those ads claiming nutella is a healthy teatime snack. I heard some mums on the bus the other day discussing the ad and they believed as it was on tv, it must be a good after school snack for children.
