I have already warned dh not to come near me tonight or I will rip his head off and try and extract alcohol from his blood, the Fragrant Boys understand mum is a bit snappy tonight, but I need more distraction to stop me exploding in a rage of alcohol withdrawal. Awful isn't it, that the body can be so pushy in its demands for BOOZE!!!!!

So, go and have a look in your vegetable box, store cupboard, fridge etc, see what's out of date and needs using up and I'll make dinner for you, on the interweb of course. Or does anyone want any ideas for upcoming catering events?

TIA

I would help suzy if I could but I am an anal meal planner and it is all sorted

because thanks to your brownies and a new milk frother we are saving thousands of pounds in Cafe Nero

the WI brownies I made first try were horrid they made chocolate taste like soil, somehow

I can maybe cheer you up by doing a dance

mankymummy · 29/05/2008 10:52

asparagus. tinned tomato soup. tinned oxtail soup. dried garlic flakes. onions. grated cheese (a bit stale). salad dressing. mint sauce. cornflakes.

p.s. good for you giving up the booze. think i may try for my first day off in 2 years tonight!

micci25 · 29/05/2008 10:52

how about a nice healthy recipe for my dd1 4 that dd2 1year can eat too?

dd1 is a poor eater so v underweight, anything that will help put weight on her that incorporates lots of veg. she likes pasta, cheese, pancakes and cheese burgers right now.

nailpolish · 29/05/2008 10:53

asparagus
noodles

and fish
i love fish but im scared of it

suzywong · 29/05/2008 10:54

thank you Capp, you dance so elegantly. Are you formerly trained

mankymummy and anyone else who comes on here I will get back to you within 2 hours, I have to go and do dh's dinner and then start shouting at kids to get in bath but I think being GMT+7 is to our advantage and you SHALL have something that contains those things - onion flakes are wonderful things - when I return.

Adieu

oh just remembered

want nice flapjacky ideas

kids are bored with Nigella's condensed milk offerings and any other recipe alarms me with its surfeit of sugar

and has just found out at 38 weeks

nailpolish · 29/05/2008 11:01

well i would say i am pretty adequate in the kitchen, dont have much time though. have a family that will eat any anything and everything. dont fancy gadgets like mixers or microwaves though.

Cappuccino · 29/05/2008 11:06

okay then

recipes for a child who will only eat kedgeree

which, despite it having curry powder in, isn't curry which is 'yukky'

alternatives to kedgeree please

Cappuccino · 29/05/2008 11:06

and I only cook things that take 30 mins or less

unless casseroled or in slow cooker

nailpolish · 29/05/2008 11:07

id love a slow cooker but wouldnt know what to do with it

hate stews. are they the only thing you canuse slow cookers for?

micci25 · 29/05/2008 11:10

im quite a good cook and always willing to try anything, recipes usually go quite well even if i havent tried them before, i did have a terrible experience with fried rice not long though but that was because i was annoyed with dp so didnt bother washing or cooking the rice properly. was just throwing things around the kitchen instead.

mankymummy · 29/05/2008 11:28

you can chuck bolognese and chilli into slow cookers too. and pasta if you dont leave it too long. i luuuuuuurve my slow cooker.

suzywong · 29/05/2008 13:21

I'm giving up booze as part of Neris and India's Idiot Proof Diet, I can have VODKA in 11 days though so it's not all gloom. It's just tonight I'm like Mrs Dubose in To Kill A Mockingbird coming off Morphine and you are all jem Finch reading to me.

right, who's first?

mankymummy : sparagus. tinned tomato soup. tinned oxtail soup. dried garlic flakes. onions. grated cheese (a bit stale). salad dressing. mint sauce. cornflakes.

well I don't agree with cooking with Kellogs' products or the like so the cornflakes are out for a start

What kind of pasta do you have?

Because I think you should make that all in to a pasta bake. Blanch the asparagus, mix with the tomato soup and garlic flakes, sweat some onions off in oliveoil and butter. Add it all together and toss through cooked pasta. Cover with your stale cheese and maybe add a dash of cream if you ahve it.

lulumama · 29/05/2008 13:25

sooooooozy !! can i substitute fromage frais for creme fraiche in that jamie oliver £5 meal that is being advertised at the mo. it is plain fromage frais, not strawberry petit filous

Oliveoil · 29/05/2008 13:36

I have a mouldy pigeon, some dairylea, an aubergine and a maggot

any ideas?

suzywong · 29/05/2008 13:39

Course you can, Malcolm. Though if it's a cooked dish don't let it boil once you've added it as it may curdle.

right micci25:
how about a nice healthy recipe for my dd1 4 that dd2 1year can eat too?
dd1 is a poor eater so v underweight, anything that will help put weight on her that incorporates lots of veg. she likes pasta, cheese, pancakes and cheese burgers right now.

How about cheese pudding?
heat the oven to 200 degrees or GM7
take three slices of bread and make them into crumbs
add 100g of grated cheese
2 beaten eggs
cream or full fat milk
season to your liking
butter, and it must be butter, a pyrex or ceramic oven proof souffle dish i.e. deep sides and round - I used to do it in a chinese claypot actually - really generously and pour in the mix
Put it in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until puffed up and browned.
VERY fattening
good with ketchup.

ANd do you know how to make American style breakfast pancakes? They can incorporate lots of goodness and calories.
