My auntie used to feed me this all the time after reading whats in it I would never give it to ds but at the deli counter 4 people in front of me bought it!
So who on here gets it?

because you came on here and confessed to your sins .

Just admit that it is shite and get over it

Give her Macdonalds instead

Loshad · 22/05/2008 20:53

None of my boys would know what it was - who did feed it your dd first then?
how about cheese/salad/egg mayo/chicken with or without salad/houmous/goats cheese etc etc if she doesn't like ham, pasta salad, cheese cubes and salad, rice salad, soup in a thermos etc etc

Fillyjonk · 22/05/2008 20:56

lol, what is wrong with it?

why would you be so desperate to feed a kid meat though? it won't kill them not to eat meat!

Fillyjonk · 22/05/2008 20:57

i mean , it kind of takes the "i don't eat food with a face" to a new level

i can't STAND teddy bears though

it's only processed meat like any other, my son loves that cooked chicken roll stuff

Sidge · 22/05/2008 21:06

My eldest has had it a couple of times before.

I wouldn't give it to her often but jeez there are worse foods you could give a child.

RiojaLover75 · 22/05/2008 21:12

Oh God!!! It's disgusting stuff.

You can hardly call it MEAT can you???!!!!

micci25 · 22/05/2008 21:12

my dd's sometimes get princess ham off my sister but i dont think they have ever had billy bear ham, although with dd1 being such a poor eater if she wanted it and i thought she would eat she would be allowed it, even though yes i agree that it is crap and no i wouldnt eat it myself, i dont like over processed foods.

and we used to buy the yoghurts that are shaped like strawberries too but she likes dr who frubes atm!

Whooosh · 22/05/2008 21:17

Good on WWB for being honest and doing what is right for her dd.
Knew this would descend into the "how awful-how could you?" thread but sometimes you just have to step back a little.

Would I choose it fo rmy dd-no-but that's because whe will eat other stuff-and by the way-the ingradients,to me don't seem as bad as many other products on the market....

schneebly · 22/05/2008 21:23

yes it is gimmicky but probably no worse than any other processed meat.

WallOfSilence · 22/05/2008 21:24

ButterflyBessie...can I quietly suggest that if you feel strongly enough to swear about people giving their children this billy bear stuff, it may be time to get a life take a step back?

Who is anyone else to judge what a mother gives her child?

And no, my children don't eat it..they are too full after their sausage rolls, fruit shoots and highland toffee bars

PestoMonster · 22/05/2008 21:25

My dd2 loves it.

Piffle · 22/05/2008 21:28

that's why I stick to saying I'd never feed it to my kids as its shit
and I don't feed my kids shit like that

cheesesarnie · 22/05/2008 21:29

not here-veggie babies.i fed them veggie crap instead

Oliveoil · 22/05/2008 21:29

never heard of this before but I have seen some other ones in the chiller cabinets, iirc thomas or barbie maybe?

probably fulll of crap and will not darken my door

but if dd1 or dd2 went to a party and it was served I am sure they would be thrilled

far worse things to get your knickers in a twist over imo

SlartyBartFast · 22/05/2008 21:30

my dc's don't like it

TheFallenMadonna · 22/05/2008 21:34

Blimey. That was rude to WWB. Say it's crappy by all means (it is), but ButterflyBessie you were needlessly aggressive I think.

Clairef29 · 22/05/2008 21:34

I agree, it is revolting stuff and would never give it to DD along with any other processed meats (?) like hotdogs, turkey dinosaurs, chicken roll etc. But only because the media make the public much more aware now of how certain foods are made. When my sis and I were young there wasn't all the info and scaremongering so we ate all these foods on a regular basis and we have grown up ok!! However I choose not to buy them not just because of the nutritional content but because of the manufacturing process they go through and the animal welfare aspect of it ....Jamie Oliver has a lot to answer for!!!
WWB have you tried letting DC make little finger rolls using small slices of wafer thin ham with cheese sticks, cucumber sticks, cherry toms etc? My dd has loys of fun doing this and enjoys eating things more if she has helped make them!

chipmonkey · 22/05/2008 21:35

My ds's won't eat it. And they never were taken in by making food look like a picture either, even if it took me two hours to make it!

chipmonkey · 22/05/2008 21:37

Yes, Doctor Miriam Stoppard, it is your stupid cookbook I am talking about!

southeastastra · 22/05/2008 21:38

but even wafer thin ham has been processed a bit hasn't it? and tbh if you have a picky eater (my 14 year old was very bad) you'd just be pleased they ate anything

morningpaper · 22/05/2008 21:39

I ate CHORIZO last week

I bought a massive fat one into work

Goodness me I was popular

Now that's PROPER processed meat; you actually feel like you might DIE just eating it.

SlartyBartFast · 22/05/2008 21:39

oops
mine love turkey dinasaurs

Oliveoil · 22/05/2008 21:39

I made a 'volcano' out of mashed potato and ketchup once and was most peeved when they didn't eat it

'but it took me ages!!!' >
