Not for a celebration or a present. Just say to drink with your Sunday lunch.

About £5 - try to get stuff on offer. I buy about 4 bottles a week.

nkf · 04/05/2008 19:27

Thanks you all.I've just noticed I spend more but I drink less so I figure it all comes to the same price in the long run.

Sorry. When you say wine club do you mean the newspaper wine clubs? Or something else?

About £5 or £6.

I always snap them up when I see £10 bottles reduced to £5 in Sainsbos. They have some really good offers. Also sometimes get cheap cases of good wine, but again works out just under a fiver a bottle.

Cappuccino · 04/05/2008 19:29

yes nkf Sunday Times is the one I use - I'm not a wine snob and it is fairly midrange but reliably nice

if you let me recommend you they will send you a good deal and if you decide to take them up on it tey will send me free wine

not that I'm pressuring you or anyfink

NomDePlume · 04/05/2008 19:29

£8 - £10 on average.

expatinscotland · 04/05/2008 19:30

as a present, around a tenner but up to £15.

ceebee74 · 04/05/2008 19:30

We buy ours from the Sunday Times Wine Club - if you get the cheapest cases (usually 12 bottles) it works out under £5 per bottle but it is great stuff - I think me and DH have had about 1 bad bottle each (I drink white, he drinks red) in 3 or 4 years that we have been doing this.

Would definitely recommend it as the wine is much nicer than the £5 supermarket bottles.

nkf · 04/05/2008 19:31

You odn't have to buy a certain amount a year like those book clubs do you?

Ooo Expat. What do you buy?

expatinscotland · 04/05/2008 19:33

Lidl sells plonk called French Table Wine.

That's what I buy when I buy it.

Haven't bought any in moths, though, as am pregnant.

nkf · 04/05/2008 19:34

Misread, sorry. £15 as a present but not for you. Congratulations by the way.

I'll take a look at the Sunday Times club. 12 bottles would last us ages.

no nkf

you ring them after your first order and say thanks, but don't send me any
regular cases

then they send you a leaflet every so long with offers on

and you can buy or not

ceebee74 · 04/05/2008 19:35

I am not sure if there is a minimum you have to buy - I don't think so.

They do send you a case of 12 bottles every 3 months but you can cancel it so you don't have to receive it - although this just about meets our requirements so we usually just get that.

ceebee74 · 04/05/2008 19:36

Like Expat, unfortunately I am not able to enjoy the lovely wine atm due to also being pg

morningpaper · 04/05/2008 19:38

Asda currently have lots of their 6-7 quid bottles in their 3-for-10 deal

I don't know how they do that, but I have bought SHEDLOADS this week

Cappuccino · 04/05/2008 19:38

they do it by marking it up to the £6-£7 mark

I remember reading a while ago about how supermarkets did that so you thought you were getting a bargain

jingleyjen · 04/05/2008 19:39

about £10

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 04/05/2008 19:40

NKF

Sunday Times Wine Club.

or

Laithwaites.

RubberDuck · 04/05/2008 19:42

We use the Virgin Wine Discovery Club.

morningpaper · 04/05/2008 19:42

but no Capp this is stuff that sells EVERYWHERE for around 7 quid

including a disgusting vintage of DH's that is sold virtually nowhere because it's disgusting

morningpaper · 04/05/2008 19:43

Brown Brothers' Tarango that's it

tastes disgusting, can't believe he pays 7 quid a bottle for it

I stocked up

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/05/2008 19:47

We don't drink a lot of wine, but £10 when we do. Always buy Tim Adams 'The Fergus' when it's available (red) - tis lovely.

Anna8888 · 04/05/2008 19:48

Somewhere between 10 and 11 euros for our regular house red (Santa Cristina).

foxinsocks · 04/05/2008 19:52

don't know...haven't thought about it I suppose

dh probably around £8-15, I guess a similar amount for me but I always look for the 3 for 2s or buy a crate from Majestic. People often bring wine when they come round here and that seems to last for ages.
