Here it is - all welcome, long termers and newbies, I imagine this week is leftovers leftovers leftovers and kicking off from Thursday onwards.

ive gone back to Oddbox and our deliveries now come on Friday nights so I’m going to try to force my brain to meal plan Thursday-Thursday and have delivery on Thursdays to make it happen. Won’t happen this week but hopefully from next

UnimaginableWindBird · 16/03/2025 10:29

I'm out of ideas this week, and the weather isn't helping as I'm not sure whether to cook cold-weather stodge or lighter spring food.

Monday: I like the look of those coconutty noodles with tofu, so I'm going to give that a go.
Tuesday: sea bass with some sort of salty lemony greens.
Wednesday: DH to cook pizza
Thursday: tbc,DD to cook
Friday: "recanted potatoes" which is our household name for those jacket potatoes where you take the insides out and mash t to em up with stuff and put them back in the oven. Served with a big salad.
Saturday: I'll be working all day till late, so lentil soup that people can heat up when they want it.
Sunday: chicken with clementines and fennel.

Forgottenmyphone · 16/03/2025 11:09

Lacking inspiration again this week...
Chicken leek & mushroom pie
Jacket potatoes, cheese & coleslaw
Fajitas
Creamy mushroom & bacon pasta
Fish, new potatoes, green veg & parsley sauce
Sausages & roast veg
Spinach & chickpea curry

A bit meat-heavy but still using up what's in the freezer.

IDareSay · 17/03/2025 09:15

This week:

Monday: Jerk chicken
Tuesday: Smoky fish stew
Wednesday: Lamb curry
Thursday: Turkey breast stuffed with garlic cheese
Friday: Lamb keema
Saturday: Sourdough with various meats, cheeses and pates.
Sunday: Cottage pie

Still haven't sorted the recipe books out yet, don't think that will get done until after our weekend away now.

I am SO annoyed. I just realised that the mince I bought for the massaman bowls... was dated 15 March. I am pretty relaxed about sell by dates, nbut that feels a step too far seeing as we weren't planning to have it until tomorrow. I am about to complain to Amazon. Serves me right - I usually don't buy meat from them but was a bit desperate and it was Morrisons so thought it would be okay.

Does mean I have to bring my next shop forward which means I'm back to bloody meal planning. When does it stop!? Grin Admittedly, doing a shop now for deliery tomorrow but meals only start from Thursday.

So:
mince massaman noodle thing.
Tomato, aubergine, chilli pasta.
Sausage, fennel and spinach cream sauce with gnocchi.
Chicken taco bowls - working on making them less complicated!
Miso grilled salmon and veg

MotherofPearl · 18/03/2025 14:53

I’m new to the thread but have already got lots of inspiration from others’ posts. I’m trying the hasselback halloumi this week on the strength of this thread.

I’ve just done my plan for next week (shopping delivered on Friday).

Friday: kedgeree (with added spinach)
Saturday: burnt aubergine chilli
Sunday: homemade cheese and onion pie; baby potatoes; green vegetable
Monday: sausage casserole; crispy bread; greens
Tuesday: marry me chicken; rice; vegetable
Wednesday: grilled salmon and chorizo; tomato salad; some kind of carb tbc
Thursday: broccoli pasta

This week's menu is done. We're busy decorating so the slow cooker is working overtime some days and others are super quick or from the freezer. A bit beefier than I'd like but I have so much in the freezer I'm trying to shift.

Friday- Chicken fajita bowls
Saturday- Chinese beef curry with rice if I'm being good or salt and pepper chips if I'm not. Will probably do crispy kale with this too (like seaweed from the Chinese)
Sunday- Swedish meatballs with mash and greens.
Monday - Harira with part baked baguette
Tuesday- Chicken chasseur with roast potatoes and veg.
Wednesday- Arayes with fattoush
Thursday- Chilli with rice

I've given up. Sick of the mental load of it all and DP just keeps saying he'll make a chilli or we'll 'improvise'. So sick of it. He can eat toast for a week at this rate.

I hear you. Most of the time I really don't mind but sometimes it would be nice if someone else actually CARED. Dh really will happily eat toast or forage to find basics, but I value good food, cooked well, with nutritional benefits but that means I have to cook it. And think about it. And shop for it. Sigh.

This.

To be fair to DP, he will cook - if I decide what he’s cooking, order it and tell him how to cook it. Also to be fair to him, it would be less stressful if we had a toast night and a jacket spuds night every week.

We’ve settled on:

vegetable and chickpea tagine with couscous cous

mushroom stroganoff with rice and steamed vege

qaesadillas with avocado and fresh tomato salsa

tortellini with browned butter and sage, plus sautéed spinach

vegetable fucking chilli

Pamelaaaaarrr · 23/03/2025 15:44

Just doing my grocery shop:

Monday: Flatbread with falafel and houmous and greek style salad
Tuesday: Chicken fajitas

Sunday: Out for a roast for Mothers Day

pontipinemum · 24/03/2025 08:41

I'm getting to a point where I am contemplating doing a monthly meal plan. I love cooking, eating, thinking about food, talking about food but I am stumped lately with what to cook.

DS who is 2 and will inhale something one day then the next say 'I no like it pasta' is making it more difficult!! I started him 'correctly' with all the 1st taste veggies, then fruits etc He would eat anything until he turned two

IDareSay · 24/03/2025 11:11

A 'using things up' week as we are away for the latter half.

This week:
Monday: Cottage pie (carried forward from yesterday as we still had lots of sourdough etc to eat; I made two, one is sitting in the fridge so an easy day today and the second one will be an easy dinner when we get home on Sunday!)
Tuesday: Chicken curry
Wednesday: Fajita turkey casserole (from freezer)
Thursday: Away
Friday: Away
Saturday: Away
Sunday: Cottage pie

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 27/03/2025 08:28

I’m away Friday/saturday
Sunday: mezze
Monday: fajita salad
Tuesday: Thai fried rice
Wednesday: freezer special
Thursday: tofu tikka masala

SpaceOP · 27/03/2025 10:25

Crunchy peanut slaw (Emily English - loving her book) topped with prawns for me and DS, and tofu for DH.
Spaghetti and meatballs
Baked chicken with mash (lots of dodgy potatoes to use up)
Pork mince stir fry
Miso glazed aubergine on rice with smashed cucumbers.
We're out on mothers day so this takes me to middle of next week.

TheLadyIsAVamp · 27/03/2025 17:47

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/03/2025 19:15

I am truly sorry to announce that we didn't get to eat the chilli this week. It's been a terrible shame, but I've just about managed to bear it.

We've got a couple of days away which involve Thai food (bring on the sour papaya salad), a Middle Eastern feast and hopefully at least two pieces of cake, one of which will be Basque cheesecake in an amazing bakery if I'm very lucky.

Beyond that, all I've got so far is:

dp will probably still want the vegetable chilli

we've got some kimchi to try, which I think might be turned into some sort of kimchi and tofu Japanese/Korean hybrid stew thing (I do have actual recipes[es for this, so it hopefully wouldn't be as frightful as I'm making it sound)

we bought some amazing chilli sauces from a local company and I want to do something which gives them a chance to shine, so maybe some sort of Mexican-esque eggs thing - tortillas, eggs, avocado, sauces, other delicious things which I haven't quite worked out yet. Any ideas?

depending on the weather forecast, a lazy meal of pie and mash or sausages and mash or salad, quiche and nice bread
