Here it is - all welcome, long termers and newbies, I imagine this week is leftovers leftovers leftovers and kicking off from Thursday onwards.

ive gone back to Oddbox and our deliveries now come on Friday nights so I’m going to try to force my brain to meal plan Thursday-Thursday and have delivery on Thursdays to make it happen. Won’t happen this week but hopefully from next

Checking in. Need to get better at meal plan and prep next year and hopefully wean myself off Gousto boxes - we're away and I did a full fridge clean out before we left so need to plan a decent Ocado shop for when we get back on Sunday to hit the ground running.

Pamelaaaaarrr · 01/01/2025 18:56

Checking in to mark my place. Currently doing my first meal plan for 2025. Though tonight is still freezer food!

changedmynam · 01/01/2025 18:59

I'm sat here with a pile of recipe books and have just planned all of January into February and made a task on my calender to do Februarys in about 3 weeks time.

I find online shopping so much easier when I've already decided what to eat so can just add the relevant ingrediants, and easier to not repeat the same old recipes when I plan 4 / 5 weeks at a time as dont repeat any meals in this time.

Oh this sounds so organised and cozy! 😍

Just spotted this thread in active and hope it’s ok to join in! I really need this.
I have a well stocked and organised fridge, freezer and pantry and still get stumped for dinner ideas. Doesn’t help having a house full of fussy eaters.

TheLadyIsAVamp · 01/01/2025 19:18

Our plan from tomorrow 🙂
Thursday - Turkish pasta(tiktok Anna Paul recipe)
Friday - Grilled chicken breast topped with a creamy mushroom and Dijon sauce, mini roasties, tenderstem broccoli and green beans.
Saturday - Sirloin steak, loaded baked potato, roasted vine tomato and green beans with Parmesan and side salad
Sunday- Extra spicy chicken ramen
Monday- Tarka daal and paratha
Tuesday - Tuna jacket potato and salad
Wednesday - chicken fajita bowls with loads of homemade guac as my avocados will hopefully finally be ripe!

I'm planning to go on a diet after this week so having all my favourites as I was poorly over Christmas!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2025 21:20

Thanks for the new thread @Citygirlrurallife

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 01/01/2025 22:03

nailslikeknives · 01/01/2025 22:19

Love meal planning and batch cooking to make it easier. I made 3 family meals worth of urad dahl tonight. So it's definitely on the plan for next week and again later in the month!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/01/2025 23:57

Hello, I fell off the last thread a bit, but did plan on the kitchen board! This week has been:

M - M&S chicken thing with broccoli and jacket potatoes
T - out for a fancy lunch, cheeseboard at night
W - (guests round so a three course dinner) butternut/sweet potato/red pepper soup, cottage pie with peas and tenderstem broccoli, Christmas pudding with custard
Th - out - Nando’s
F - risotto of some sort
Sat - creamy leek and Parma ham pasta

We’re off until Monday - that vat of soup needs to be eaten for lunches, and there are some sausage rolls (M&S, not home made) in the fridge too. I was sick with what I assume was Covid all last week and lost taste/smell so we have a LOT of cheese to get through too.

Twinkletwinklelil · 02/01/2025 00:35

Not a hard plan yet but I know I want to make a Shepard’s pie, fish pie and eat plenty more fish this year so a salmon pesto dish in the first week-2 weeks

looking forward to inspiration from this thread

Craftymam · 02/01/2025 00:59

Omg I'm joining!

My banking app has had a new update where it shows our grocery spend and we were spending about £850 a month for two adults one toddler! I don't even eat breakfast or lunch usually so this is awful!

Also new kitchen/ oven just before Xmas so very excited about cooking.

Asked for a set of falcon tins for Xmas which are beautiful and the Roasting tin series books.

Have trialled making the salmon tray bake and a coffee baileys tray bake from the books and they were great!

Really excited to meal plan this year!

Toastandbutterand · 02/01/2025 03:41

Moussaka, and Chinese veg stir fry with crispy shredded beef and egg fried rice was the plan! Then I work around the left overs, so I'd do a rice based meal, maybe ramen with the Chinese veg, save some bechemal for a Mac and cheese. That's how I tend to plan.

But norovirus has struck so I've cancelled the food delivery.

I've got loads in the freezer and loads of veg left from the cheap stuff before Christmas so I think I'll just wing it. Probably better to eat very little at this point!

I've saved my basket so I guess I'll just get it in a few days and rejig the plan.

If anyone has any ideas for recovery id very gladly hear them!

lastqueenofscotlandagain · 02/01/2025 08:18

Woohoo thanks for the new thread and a very happy new year to all planners.
Done mine, not overly inspired this week but got so much to use up, and not sure how busy work will be so don't want to overface myself.

Tomorrow: veggie gyro salad
Saturday: jacket potato
Sunday: pizza
Monday: bruschetta
Tuesday: pad thai
Wednesday; maybe at a friends but if not I've some soup in the freezer so will use that
Thursday: ratatouille with sourdough

Citygirlrurallife · 02/01/2025 11:04

went and posted on the old thread!

Can’t remember what’s in the oddbox so this might change depending on Fridays delivery:
Tonight: veggie sausages/breaded chicken, chips, carrots and peas
Tomorrow: fish pie
Saturday: DH and I are out
Sunday: salmon, jacket potatoes and broccoli
Monday: creamy salmon pasta (got a huge side of salmon in the freezer!)
Tuesday: bolognese (veggie and meat)
Wednesday: African peanut stew

Thanks for the new thread! Hopefully everyone finds us.

I am wiped out. The thought of meal planning is almost completely beyond me right now. I've managed to buy random ingredients and jot down vague ideas on the planner in the kitchen but that's not going to work for much longer. I have to do an order as well as we have people coming over tomorrow. So marking my place and will be back with something more coherent later!

Pamelaaaaarrr · 02/01/2025 19:43

Right next few days...

Tonight: Had a mad jacket potato craving
Friday: Paneer curry
Saturday: Burnt aubergine chilli
Sunday: Cooking a roast chicken and will serve warm with stuffing, gravy and baguettes.

lorisparkle · 02/01/2025 20:59

Thought I would join in as I have made a 5 week meal plan which I endeavour to follow. I have been really struggling with my mental health and feeling overwhelmed so I hope it is going to help. I am also trying to book the online shop a couple of weeks in advance.

wehumans · 02/01/2025 21:03

Hoping to join if that’s okay. I try to eat seasonally so have to meal plan, will be starting from Monday.

Xiaoxiong · 02/01/2025 21:16

I'm on my own for the next few days and then DH, DS1 and DS2 returning on the weekend - my plan is:

Tonight: panfried salmon, broccoli, half a pouch of mediterranean grains (will have the other half for lunch tomorrow)

Fri: cheese and black bean quesadilla, salsa, yoghurt

Sat: sausages and puy lentils, spring greens, garlic bread

Sun: roast chicken, caponata bake

Mon: chicken noodle soup, focaccia

Tues: homemade burgers, oven chips

Weds: black bean & chorizo soup with nacho toppings (avo, tomato, cheese, tortilla chips)

Thurs: squash and paneer curry (thanks for the idea @Pamelaaaaarrr), rice, naan

Then the veg box comes next Thurs and I will have to plan with what's in there! I feel you @SpaceOP - I had to get ChatGPT to make some of the suggestions above as I have complete decision fatigue at the moment.

Softpebbles · 02/01/2025 21:23

I am usually a big meal plan fan but fell off the wagon. Someone once said to me it’s just food and they don’t really make meals. I’ve always been a bit 😳 at that but tonight I used that principle and chucked a loads of veg that needed using in the oven, sausages in the air fryer and then tossed it altogether with some pesto that was open in the fridge.

No one complained and maybe there will be a few more random meals when life gets a bit meh. I will be trying to make a few more soups too!

Bbq1 · 02/01/2025 21:48

I'm in, please! Need some new ideas.

foodiemama26 · 02/01/2025 23:46

I used to be really good with meal planning and I’m hoping to get organised again! Here’s this week:

Thurs: fish parcels, bang bang salad and sticky rice
Fri: Chicken/mushroom fajitas with salad and guacamole
Sat: chicken and pepper pasta
Sun: cottage pie and peas

Looking forward to getting some inspiration!

HalloumiFries · 02/01/2025 23:53
