Here it is - all welcome, long termers and newbies, I imagine this week is leftovers leftovers leftovers and kicking off from Thursday onwards.

ive gone back to Oddbox and our deliveries now come on Friday nights so I’m going to try to force my brain to meal plan Thursday-Thursday and have delivery on Thursdays to make it happen. Won’t happen this week but hopefully from next

Monday was burgers in a bun (just that!).
Tuesday was pork chops with cauli cheese and mash.
Wednesday was beef sausages in a tomato sauce with onion, garlic, peppers on pasta.
Thursday was turkey, roasties, roasted carrots/parsnips, Brussels sprouts, gravy.
Yesterday was party food.
Today is “turkey delight” curry (by Green Saffron…we use a lot of their spice mixes) with rice, naans and a tomato/spring onion mix on the side.

As we are then out of turkey, I need to do a plan for tomorrow and the rest of the week - but it may be a day by day plan with multiple supermarket trips. It will definitely involve soup as I have lovely stock but DH had no suitable veg in (2 carrots, Brussels sprouts and a couple of onions).

My guess is: (in no particular order)
Good winter soup and crusty bread
Chicken fajitas
Roast lamb (with something different for DD)
Proper spag Bol (big batch with a few for freezer)
A good chicken curry (another big batch with some for freezer)
Cottage pie or chicken and mushroom pie or smoked fish and brocolli pie (.with a second in my Pyrex for freezer dish)
Veggie chilli and rice (or chilli con carne)
Roast chicken

Coming back to this for the first time in ages as I've had a hectic few months but I am really missing meal planning routine from my life. Going to sit in peace this afternoon and work out some meals. I love cooking and trying new things but just not had the headspace.

@Forgottenmyphone Can I come to yours for NYE, please?

I’m making a soup today to use up the carrots and parsnips I bought especially for this purpose. We’re both full of cold, so I’m hoping it will do us good.

Forgottenmyphone · 28/12/2025 13:34

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie The more the merrier! But just warning you, we won’t be drinking!

That's okay. Not bothered about drink. Shall I bring a trifle? Grin

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupieoohh, that’s just given me an idea - Caribbean style trifle made with pineapple and rum cake!

We’ve had chicken fajitas (using taco seasoning as DH was out of fajita mix), with chilli con carne from freezer the following night (as I had made enough guacamole for 3 but DD ate something else on fajita night). Cumberland sausages with mash and sautéed leeks (sausages and leeks from freezer). Last night was steak and kidney pies with mash reheated in the oven with onion, milk, cream, thyme and parsley, and butter, added, and roasted carrots/parsnips.

Tonight is chicken burgers, and probably some HM wedges from the airfryer. And an apple and blackberry crumble (blackberries from freezer, and maybe crumble mix - but I’d prefer to make fresh so the frozen is there for DH).

I plan a roast chicken, with the defrosted leftover turkey gravy, roasties and some veg (maybe cauliflower) on Friday or Saturday. Or without the gravy and doing my roasted Mediterranean veggies instead (I can do a big batch and freeze some ready to roast).

I also plan a proper spag Bol (with loads of veg and a half bottle of red wine in the cooking) before I leave. So there’s a few portions to freeze.

And a chicken and mushrooms with white wine sauce (no milk, just using turkey stock) that DD will also like. Again, may also have a couple of portions to freeze.

And I also need to do a big food shop to refill fridge/cupboards here, as they are living on too many nutritionally-poor conveniences at the moment when I am away. (With good reason- but I want to make it easier to eat properly).

If my eggs have lasted in the fridge in my apartment, I will do a pasta carbonara for Monday, so I don’t need to food shop until Tuesday evening (I take a red eye flight back Monday morning and go straight into work so don’t think I’ll feel like shopping that night).

Do we have a 2026 thread yet? I couldn't find anything. Carrying on here for the moment, this is my first week of actual planning in a while.

Tonight and tomorrow will be a winter greens and beans soup, with the last of the new year cheese.
Wednesday: Mushroom Pad Thai
Thursday: Fasolakia
Friday: Going to theatre so not quite sure yet.

Still need to consider the weekend, but it's a start.
