Bleh. peas go with GREEN things, pesto, courgette, feta, those pointy spears the name of which mysteriously eludes me.

not red sauce. my red sauce only tolerates a red or yellow pepper, celery, carrot and maybe a mushroom at a pinch. ideally it's just onion, cel, carrot, a slice of smoked bacon and toms (and an armful of olive oil). but peas... NONONONONONOOOOOOO. that is WRONG.

that recipe was picked at random! I have never made it. The sauce I had were very smooth.

I only ever buy petit pois. I dislike big bullet school dinner peas.

I could do peas with tomato sauce. But eggs with tomato is a sin against nature.

msappropriate · 18/04/2008 13:34

not even in a fry up?

msappropriate · 18/04/2008 13:34

people have such stressful lives following all these rules!

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 18/04/2008 13:38

how are they rules? it's just what tastes good and what doesn't to the general population. you are clearly weird.
i know what you mean about eggs and toms (huevos rancheros vomitos) but oooh, i like a fried egg and fried tom in a cooked breakfast.

msappropriate · 18/04/2008 13:42

I have tastes and combinations that I don't like but I don't assume that every one else has the same or would say that they were wrong for doing so! I would hate to be the same as the general population. No one would ever have put odd ingredients together to make something new that way. Love huevos rancheros!

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 18/04/2008 13:43

uh right, whatever, buzzkill.

noddyholder · 18/04/2008 13:45

i put peas in everything!

Haylstones · 18/04/2008 13:46

I love pasta with tomato sauce and often add peas, sweetcorn, broccoli and anything else I find in the fridge (hate peppers though). Dh and dd also eat it

margoandjerry · 18/04/2008 13:48

LOL at huevos rancheros vomitos. So true. May I say that spanish food often seems to violate some basic food niceness rules but has a sort of ethnic kudos that we don't get for our cuisine (like how French people always think we have meat with jam).

Peas with tomatoes would work in a sort of indian capacity?

Macdog · 18/04/2008 14:06

I've made said recipe and 'twas very nice

(I also mortally offended the 'no red and green together' crowd by chucking in a good handful of fresh basil !!!)

msappropriate · 18/04/2008 14:29

Has mattar panner got tomatoes in it? I love that.

msappropriate · 18/04/2008 14:32

paneer, yes it has, hooray for cheesy peas.

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 18/04/2008 15:10

yes, i think there may be an ethnic exemption available. but not bloody italian.

msappropriate · 18/04/2008 15:16

or mexican?
