A friend of mine was telling me how her 2 year old loved tinned hot dog sausages .
Are'nt they full of salt?

Yes. But, I'm sure her 2 year old doesnt eat them 3 times a day 7 days a week.

bunnyhopping · 12/03/2008 17:13

That's what I thought ,but did'nt want to judge her,it's her first child.

She mentioned tinned macaroni cheese and spaghetti bolegnaise as well .

Remember those meatballs in tins as a child and fray bentos pie.
Must admit I used to like the fray bentos pies.

my kids love them too, in fact they had them tonight (cringes at the list of ingredients)

bunnyhopping · 12/03/2008 17:17

Thinking back the taste of the meat in Fray bentos was strange, wondered what it was?

ds1 loves tinned meatballs as well, but spurns my delicious home-made ones ( ds2 loves my home-made ones though)

bunnyhopping · 12/03/2008 17:19

Wonder if Delia will be using tinned sausages for toad in the hole on her next programme.

My DS loves super noodles but they taste so salty.

What is this thing you speak of? I have never come across a suasage before, let alone a 'hot dog' sausage.

It is all greek to me.

Lulumama · 12/03/2008 17:24

am not a complete food purist, but do shop a lot more carefully these days

decent sausages readily available

once in a while is fine, but tinned and processed food every meal or almost every meal is not a great thing.

bunnyhopping · 12/03/2008 17:26

devilwearsprimark-skinned sausages in brine in a tin

OP posts:
TheDevilWearsPrimark · 12/03/2008 17:28

But what is a sausage?

CountessDracula · 12/03/2008 17:30

ohh i love hot dogs
not had one from a tin though

drivinmecrazy · 12/03/2008 17:32

My two eat the occasional hot-dog, but we treat foods like that as a treat. Most of the time they eat the Helen Browning organic mini sausages which are delicious. Even my MIL is a convert and serves them as finger foods at her WI meetings

bunnyhopping · 12/03/2008 17:32

A long meaty thing you stick between a roll with lashings of tomato ketchup

OP posts:
wildwoman · 12/03/2008 17:33

oh but bunny have you seen how much salt is in ketchup?

bunnyhopping · 12/03/2008 17:35

I put ketchup in mine and hide it from the children and give them a side order of cherry tomatoes

OP posts:
wildwoman · 12/03/2008 17:35

well done you
